The balance of old and new in the cottage works well for us and others often comment on how homely it is. Plus friends over 6’ don’t have to duck in the rooms that have beams.

Travelling to London is easy from Evesham and there is parking at the station, which we use regularly.

The abundance of farmers markets with fresh local produce has proved to be a real bonus and is available all year round. We have found the people in the area welcoming and friendly which is something we will miss.

First FloorThere are four large double bedrooms. The master bedroom is impressive in size. LocationWilspit cottage enjoys a wonderful location, set in the heart of the countryside and yet walking distance to the villages of Fladbury & Lower Moor with the market town of Pershore close by. Both villages have good amenities; Fladbury is a well sort after riverside village with two village inns, two golf clubs, a pre-school and primary school. There is an award winning butcher, church and various sports clubs including football, cricket and tennis. Lower Moor also has a post office, village inn and Aztec water sports centre.

Pershore is renowned as one of England’s premier small Georgian towns. Nestling in the valley of the River Avon it centres on the famous Abbey and the High Street boasts a range of fine brick built Georgian buildings. The town provides a good selection of facilities including specialist shops, an undercover market, public houses and restaurants. The well regarded No8 theatre and cinema and additionally there are two medical centres and a cottage hospital. Recreational facilities include cricket, football and rugby clubs, indoor tennis centre and leisure centre with a swimming pool. There is a wide range of independent and state educational facilities.

Close by Worcester is a thriving City with a beautiful cathedral, with many individual shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. It has a professional rugby team, county Cricket team and a racecourse. The River Severn runs through the city and there is good schooling within the public and private sector.

Other nearby towns are Stratford upon Avon, Warwick and the Cotswolds.

There are good train services to London from Evesham, Pershore and Worcester. Birmingham Airport is 30 minutes away. The M5, M40 and M42 are very close.


The enchanting town of Stratford-upon-Avon is a popular tourist destination owing to its status as birthplace of the playwright and poet William Shakespeare with visitors from all over the world. The Royal Shakespeare Company resides in Stratford’s Royal Shakespeare Theatre, one of Britain’s most important cultural venues. The town itself has many buildings that have survived over the years and would have been familiar to Shakespeare. It also offers a thriving community offering a wide variety of leisure, dining and shopping experiences.

The town is also known for its excellent schooling facilities. Within easy reach are state, grammar and private schools to suit most requirements including Warwick Prep and Public Schools and Kings High School for Girls. Arnold Lodge School and Kingsley School for Girls in Leamington, The Croft Prep School and grammar schools are in Stratford- upon-Avon.

Stratford-upon-Avon and Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway train stations offer direct services to London, Birmingham, Warwick, Warwick Parkway and Leamington Spa. There is also a coach station. Warwick Parkway, Leamington Spa, Honeybourne and Banbury also offer direct rail services to London and Birmingham. The central position of Stratford-upon -Avon makes it an ideal location for commuting to the entire country with easy access to the Fosse Way, M40, M42, M1 and M6. Leamington Spa is just twelve miles away and Banbury only twenty miles away. Birmingham International Airport is just twenty six miles away.

STRATFORD-UPON-AVON



Lying on the banks of the River Avon, Pershore is a Worcestershire market town best known for the Anglo-Saxon Pershore Abbey and the locally grown plums and pears. The town displays many examples of elegant Georgian architecture.

The town has been designated as a place of major architectural importance by the Council for British Archaeology, and listed as an outstanding conservation area. Parts of the abbey, which stand in an expanse of public grassland close to the centre of the town, date from the 11th century. The current structure is far smaller than the original building, which was plundered during Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries.

Annually there is the famous Plum Festival, to celebrate the local tradition of plum growing and the Pershore Carnival, which is held on the Spring Bank Holiday.

The town is just six miles from the towns of Evesham and Upton-upon-Seven, in the heart of the Vale of Evesham. Worcester and Stratford-upon Avon are also within easy reach. Pershore Station is on the Cotswold Line, enabling easy travel to London, Moreton in the Marsh, Oxford and Reading.
