    Definition: inability of red blood cells to carryenough oxygen to the tissues of the body

    o measured by hemoglobin concentration Causes: nutritional and due to infection

    o Iron-deficiency: >50% of caseso Infection (malaria, hookworms, etc.)o Other nutritional deficiencies
