Confession and Absolution

The sign of the cross may be made by all in remembrance of their baptism.

P In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen.

P Our help is in the name of the Lord, C who made heaven and earth.

P If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? C But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared.

P Since we are gathered to hear God’s Word, call upon Him in prayer and

praise, and receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in the

fellowship of this altar, let us first consider our unworthiness and confess

before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed,

and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His

people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our heavenly Father,

seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God, be merciful to me,

a sinner.

C Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to

everlasting life. Amen.

P Almighty God, merciful Father, in Holy Baptism You declared us to be Your

children and gathered us into Your one, holy Church, in which You daily and

richly forgive us our sins and grant us new life through Your Spirit. Be in our

midst, enliven our faith, and graciously receive our prayer and praise; through

Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. C Amen.

Service of the Word

Kyrie

Gloria in Excelsis

Salutation and Collect of the Day P The Lord be with you. C And also with you.

4

P Let us pray.

Almighty God, in Your mercy guide the course of this world so that Your Church

may joyfully serve You in godly peace and quietness; through Jesus Christ, Your

Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now

and forever. C Amen.

Old Testament Reading Job 38:1–11 1Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:

2“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? 3Dress for action like a man;

I will question you, and you make it known to me.

4“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?

Tell me, if you have understanding. 5Who determined its measurements—surely you know!

Or who stretched the line upon it? 6On what were its bases sunk,

or who laid its cornerstone, 7when the morning stars sang together

and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8“Or who shut in the sea with doors

when it burst out from the womb, 9when I made clouds its garment

and thick darkness its swaddling band,

10and prescribed limits for it

and set bars and doors, 11and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther,

and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?

A This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

Hymn: “I Leave All Things to God’s Direction” LSB 719 Psalm Psalm 124 (antiphon: v. 8)

P Our help is in the name of the LORD,

C who made heaven and earth.

P If it had not been the LORD who was on our side—

C let Israel now say—

P if it had not been the LORD who was on our side

C when people rose up against us,

P then they would have swallowed us up alive,

C when their anger was kindled against us;

P then the flood would have swept us away,

C the torrent would have gone over us;

P then over us would have gone

C the raging waters.

P Blessèd be the LORD,

C who has not given us as prey to their teeth!

P We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers;

C the snare is broken, and we have escaped!

P Our help is in the name of the LORD,

C who made heaven and earth.

ALL: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

P Our help is in the name of the LORD,

C who made heaven and earth.

Epistle 2 Corinthians 6:1–13 1Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of

God in vain. 2For he says,

“In a favorable time I listened to you,

and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”

Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 3We put

no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, 4but

as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in

6

afflictions, hardships, calamities, 5beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless

nights, hunger; 6by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit,

genuine love; 7by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of

righteousness for the right hand and for the left; 8through honor and dishonor,

through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; 9as

unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet

not killed; 10as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as

having nothing, yet possessing everything.

11We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open. 12You

are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections. 13In return (I

speak as to children) widen your hearts also.

A This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

Holy Gospel Mark 4:35–41

P The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark, the fourth chapter. C Glory to You, O Lord.

35On that day, when evening had come, [Jesus] said to them, “Let us go

across to the other side.” 36And leaving the crowd, they took him with them

in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37And a great

windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat

was already filling. 38But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they

woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!”

And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40He said to them, “Why

are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41And they were filled with great

fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even wind and sea obey

him?”

P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ.

Apostles' Creed C I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell.

The third day He rose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven

and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy Christian Church,

8

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life T everlasting. Amen.

Offering

Closing Prayer P Blessed Lord, You have caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning.

Grant that we may so hear them, read, mark, learn and take them to heart that, by the

patience and comfort of Your holy Word, we may embrace and ever hold fast the

blessed hope of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and

reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, on God, now and forever.

C Amen.

Benedicamus and Benediction A Let us bless the Lord. C Thanks be to God. P The Lord bless you and keep you.

The Lord make His face shine on you

and be gracious to you.

The Lord look upon you with favor and T give you peace. C Amen.

Attention all involved in a group, ministry,

etc. at Trinity: Please email a synopsis of

your group to ([email protected])

covering group name/title, who, what,

where, why, how and leader name(s),

email and phone number. We are wanting

to get this information archived and

available to all at Trinity. One of the results

of our THM was that we all really lacked

knowledge of several groups in our own

church. We want to know more about

them. One of the common themes is that

we have most of the same people

spearheading most of the activities, groups

and such at church.

WE NEED MORE INVOLVEMENT! We

also discussed how to get more

involvement as this develops a lot through

relationship-building. We are in need of

more relationship-building and/or social

activities through Trinity that involve

veryone (seniors, youth of all ages, parents,

singles, couples, empty-nesters,

grandparents...). Being that we have

already established a social foundation

through Wednesday nights with God's

Grub, Advent and Lenten suppers,

confirmation and music we've decided that

we need to build off of this in a bold way!

We are hoping to have these bloomed ideas

in motion by this-coming fall. With that

said, we (ALL of us) need to roll up our

sleeves and put in some elbow grease over

the summer.

In the meantime: Adults, please start

engaging with our youth. Strike up a

conversation... ask them what school they

attend, what grade they're in. Ask them

to join us for bible study, cooking in the

kitchen, cleaning, setting up, greeting,

handing out bulletins, etc.

Members, we need to engage more with

visitors, new members and those who

may be struggling. Please make a strong

effort each week by stepping a bit outside

your box to say "hi" and introduce

yourself to someone you don't know yet.

The new Church Properties Committee

met for the first time on May 29th.

Members of the committee are Russell

Kath, Arden Holzheimer, Connie

Mooney, Sandy Molitor, John Nack, Joe

Meierhofer and Randy Heyne. The

meeting included a devotion,

introductions and a review of the board

objectives. They are planning to meet

again on June 25th at 7:00pm to continue

their work of maintaining our church.

Thank the Lord for these willing servants

who stepped forward to serve on the

new committee.

WE WELCOME FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

We are glad you are here! If there is a time during the Worship Service that you feel your

child (or you) needs a “time out,” please feel free to leave the service. If you leave the service you can go to the lobby or use the large conference room across from the church office. The conference room has speakers and one-way glass so you can still participate in Worship. During the 10:30am worship service the nursery is also

available for 0-3 years old. It is not staffed but you are welcome to stay in the room with your child. It is the first classroom on the left as you enter the Preschool parent lounge area. There are also speakers in the nursery so you can listen to the service.

Activity bags for young children to use are in the plastic tub outside the church office.

FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, WE OFFER THESE AND OTHER SERVICES:

Large Print Editions of our bulletins are available from our ushers by request.

If you need further information, ask any usher or church member. Also be sure to stop by the Information Desk in the lobby. Your needs are important to us! Bible Study
