29

What steps if any has the board taken to utilize the Capital Bill, which was signed into law this summer, that allocates

$1.6 billion in matching funds to go toward school construction?

The PreK-12th grade funding is $526 million, which equals 1% of the total funding under Rebuild Illinois. A helpful document can be found at: https://www2.illinois.gov/IISNews/20266-Rebuild_Illinois_Capital_Plan.pdfAs mentioned in an earlier slide, the board was ahead of the game in working with an architect to review the HLS survey from 2016 and design a plan to improve our school buildings.

The school maintenance project grant application was released on October 4th and will be shared with the facilities and transportation committee at the next meeting. During this next month, school administration will work diligently with the architect to choose the projects of greatest need. The committee will be prepared to approve 1 project and send the grant on for full board approval, prior to submittal. This is a matching grant and will require board approval for up to $50,000 of district funds.
