Sub: lnviting Application for participation in lnternational Seminars on Bulgarian Language and Culture.

Applications are invited for participation in the following two seminars:

Seminar in Bulgarian language and Culture for Foreign scholars and students, organized by Sofia

Un iversity -St.

Kliments Ohridski' from 1 1 -07-2021 to 31 -08-2021 .

Seminar in Bulgarian language and Culture, held by "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" University of Veliko

Turnovo from 12-07 -2021 to 01 -08-2021.

Four slots for lndian students and scholars are available (two slots for each seminar). The living and

accommodation expenses for participation in the seminars shall be covered by the Bulgarian side. The travel

expenses and the travel insurance shall be borne either by the participants or by the sending institution, subject

to the approval of the competent authority.

The application form is enclosed herewith.

The Universities/ lnstitutions covered under section 128 of the UGC Act may nominate suitable candidates for

participation in the seminars. However, the maximum number of nominations by a University/ lnstitution should

be restricted to 4 only. Moreover, the nominees should have adequate knowledge on Bulgarian language and

culture. The nominations in the form of the filled in application form and CVs of the applicants should be sent to

the Section Officer (lC), Room N0.508-A, University Grants Commission, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, New Delhi-

UGC shall have the right to shortlisU select candidates for participation in the two seminars.

ANNOUNCEMENT LETTER

Dear Colleagues:

It is our pleasure to inform you that the 58m Summer Seminar of Bulgarian

Language and Culture for Foreign Scholars and Students is schedulod to take place

between I I and 3 I July, 2021 at the National Educational Centre of the Bulgarian Red

Cross in the village of Lozen (25 min. away from Sofia). The Seminar is organized by the

Faculty of Slavic Studies at Sofia University with the financial support ftom the Ministry

ofEducation and Science ofthe Republic ofBulgaria.

The Seminar is aimed at professors, researchers, and students in the fields of

Bulgarian and Slavic Snrdies, as well as at translators and everyone else interested in the

Bulgarian language, literature, history, and culture. - 'The mandatory daily classes include 3 or 5 hours ofBulgarian Language Practice

and 2 hours of specialized seminars in Bulgarian Linguistics and Translation or Bulgarian

Literary Sludies and Culhrral Anthropology of the Bulgarians. There are afternoon

classes in Bulgarian Folk Songs and Dances, which will be held five times a week for 2

hours for those who would like to attend.

Within the cultural program, there are planned trips to Rila Monastery and the city

of Plovdiv, a visit to the National Museum of History, screenings of Bulgarian films,

evenings ofthe world cultures, talenls and folk songs and dances, discos, etc.

-#'Participation in the Seminar (teaching, accommodation, meals and cultural

activities) is fiee of charge for the fellows of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and

Science (based on the cultural programs with the respective countries) [] and of Sofia

Univenity (based on the Univenity's dircct agreements with other foreign universities

and educational institutions) [2]. The participation fee for those who wish to attend

privately [3] is € 620 and for the accompanying persons who will not attend classes [4] -€ 420. The travel expenses to Bulgaria and back and the health insurance are to be

covered by the participants.

classes in praclical Bulgarian languoge and the Specialbed Seminars will be conducted

remotely on the Sofia University telecommtnication platform "Moodle".

Participants, who would like to attend, should fill out and mail back the attached

Application Form by May 10, 2021. Registration is complete after a Letter of Confirma-

tion is received by the panicipant at the E-address provided in the form by June 10,2021.

General information:Each participant in the International summer seminar has to arange all permis and visas needed for residence in

Bulgaria, according to the operative laws, and must have a valid passport. [f necessary the Department of languageteaching may send a letter of confirmation. The center strongly advises to take out medical and analogical insurancenecessary for your journey.
