    WelcomeThe Ferst Center or the Arts oers two camp experiences:

    a one-week Musical Theatre Camp and four-week

    Drama Camp.

    In Musical Theatre Camp, the campers learn to use their

    voices and bodies as instruments o expression as well as

    tools or theatrical character development. Campers will have

    the choice to make either music or dance their ocus area or

    the week, and the opportunity to perorm in the fnal show

    created just or them!

    Drama Camp oers classes in Acting, Playwriting, Technical

    Theatre, Musical Theatre and Comedy Improvisation. In

    addition, campers are treated to special workshops such

    as clowning, puppetry, makeup and fght choreography, as

    well as exciting feld trips and weekly recreational activities.

    The camp ends with a big show completely produced by the

    campers or all their parents and riends.

    Located in the heart o the Georgia Tech campus, the

    Ferst Center was conceived as a brilliant showcase or the

    presentation o concerts, lectures, dance, flm and theater.

    This state-o-the-art acility is designed to provide a wealth

    o diverse and enriching opportunities or both Georgia

    Tech and the greater Atlanta community. The Ferst Center

    Summer Camps add a vibrant, un and youthul element to the

    programming at the Ferst Center.

    About CampIn this one-week camp, campers learn to use their bodies and voices

    as instruments o expression as well as tools or theatrical character

    development. This intensive also ocuses on choreography, vocal

    perormance skills, acting, proessional audition techniques and

    proper vocal techniques. On the last day o camp a Cabaret Show

    complete with music and dancing will showcase your childs talents.

    The camps instructors are all proessional actors, musicians and

    choreographers based in the Atlanta theatre and flm community.

    About the Director, Rachel WhiteRachel is a multiaceted artist who works in all avenues o theatre as

    a director, producer, technician, teaching artist and perormer. She

    has a passion or theatre or young audiences, theatre education

    and special needs programming. You may have seen her perorming

    locally with The Aurora Theatre, GET, ART Station, Synchroncity,

    Stage Door Players and the Savage Tree Arts Project. When she is not

    perorming, she works as a director and teaching artist or several

    area camps and education programs such as ACT, The Art Block, The

    Alliance Theatre and The Ferst Center.

    He came home excited to share his daily experiences,from the small group exercises, to the song and danceto the interpersonal. It was great how he opened up.

    About CampDrama Camp oers students the opportunity to choose their

    avorite class areas (see below), special workshops, exciting feld

    trips, weekly recreational activities and more! Camp ends with a big

    show completely created and produced by the campers. Classes and

    workshops at Drama Camp are led by experienced drama teachers and

    theatre proessionals.

    Drama Camp Class AreasActing For aspiring young actors, this course emphasizes the three

    tools o an actor- body, voice and mind. Campers also work on group

    work, imagery and basic acting techniques.Musical Theatre Campers learn to use their voices and bodies as

    instruments o expression as well as tools or theatrical character

    development. This course also ocuses on choreography and dance

    perormance as well as proper voice projection or the theater.

    Technical Theatre Set design, lighting, sound and crew and stage

    management are covered in this course on the technical aspects o

    theatre. Campers get hands-on training with stage equipment.

    Playwriting Designed to inspire campers to use their imagination in

    creating their own stories, the course ocuses on the basics o dramatic

    structure. Students write scenes or other campers to perorm.

    Comedy I mprovisation Think fast! This course teaches students

    the art o thinking on their eet while on stage.Special Workshops In addition to the daily classes, students will

    also enjoy a number o workshops teaching additional theatre skills.

    Past workshops have included stage combat techniques, mask work,

    puppetry, un with accents, clowning techniques and much more!

    About the Director, Melissa Foulger

    Melissa is a director and an educator with a B.A. in Theatre, an M.Ed

    in Secondary Education rom George Washington University and an

    M.F.A. in Directing rom the University o Memphis. In addition to her

    work at proessional theatres in Atlanta, she currently serves as Artistic

    Director o Georgia Techs Drama Tech theatre group, teaches theatre

    at Georgia Techs Ivan Allen College o Liberal Arts and has worked

    extensively with young drama students.
