ACTIVITIES
Virtual Bingo! Every Friday morning from 10 to 11:30 AM. We will make arrangements to get you the cards/chips (if needed). The “video conference” program we use has the capability of you calling in from your landline and listening just over the phone if you don’t have online access, as well as joining the meeting from your smart phone, tablet or computer to see us on video. If you would like to participate, please email Paula at [email protected] so she can capture your email address to invite you to the Bingo or call and leave her a voicemail at 978 762-0208 x104 with your phone number so she can contact you with the simple
instructions to use on your landline.
Next virtual book Club: Wednesday, February 18th at 2 PM. The book will be: “City of Girls” by Elizabeth Gilbert Plot: In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance. Her affluent parents send her to Manhattan to live with her Aunt Peg, who owns a flamboyant, crumbling midtown theater called the Lily Playhouse. There Vivian is introduced to an entire cosmos of unconventional and charismatic characters, from the fun-chasing showgirls to a sexy male actor, a grand-dame actress, a lady-killer writer, and no-nonsense stage manager. But when Vivian makes a personal mistake that results in professional scandal, it turns her new world upside down in ways that it will take her years to fully understand. Ultimately, though, it leads her to a new understanding of the kind of life she craves - and the kind of freedom it takes to pursue it. It will also lead to the love of her life, a love that stands out from all the rest. Now eighty-nine years old and telling her story at last, Vivian recalls how the events of those years altered the course of her life - and the gusto and autonomy with which she approached it. "At some point in a woman's life, she just gets tired of being ashamed all the time," she muses. "After that, she is free to become whoever she truly is." Written with a powerful wisdom about human desire and connection, City of Girls is a love story like no other Please email Paula at [email protected] if you would like to participate. A link will be sent out a few days before. You only need to click the link! Or you can join by telephone. If so, please call Paula at 978 762-0208 and she will get the information to you.

Varsity and JV 2019-2020 team T4T collection Toys for Tots began in 1947 by Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks and his wife Diane. Maj Hendricks and the Marines in his reserve unit in LA collected and distributed
5,000 toys in 1947. Seeing such successful community engagement in 1947, the Commandant directed all Marine Reserve Sites to implement a TFT campaign transforming it into a national
community action program in 1948. As a personal friend and as a favor to the Major, Walt Disney designed the first Toys for Tots poster which included a miniature three-car train that was subsequently adopted as the Toys for Tots logo. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation was
established in 1991 to help run and support the Marine Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation raises funds, purchases toys and so much more. Presently, the Marine T4T Program distributes
an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually. Thank you to all that donated a new, unwrapped toy and to the Danvers Fire Department for
being the drop off site.

What is Fiber?
Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that the body cannot digest. Fiber plays a role in digestion,
feeling full, preventing constipation, and even reducing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers.
Fiber Needs
Too little fiber can cause constipation or even increased risk of chronic disease. But too much fiber can cause stomach issues including bloating, gas, and cramping. Especially if fiber is add-ed to the diet too quickly! Make sure you increase fiber gradually.
Men typically need a little more fiber than women. The RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance)
for men ages 51+ is 30 grams per day. The RDA for women ages 51+ is 21 grams per day. Some great sources of fiber include:
• Chickpeas & beans
• Almonds, pistachios, sunflower seeds, and chia seeds
• Whole grains such as quinoa, oatmeal, whole wheat breads, and brown rice
• Vegetables such as broccoli, Brussel sprouts, turnips, corn, and cauliflower
• Fruits such as strawberries, apples, oranges and bananas
The Danvers TRIAD Council is a partnership which includes the Sheriff and
District Attorney of Essex County, the Danvers Police and Fire Chiefs, the Council on Aging and supportive services, and seniors. You can make the most out
of each doctor’s appointment by bringing along a “Reminder Sheet for Your Doctor Visit”. This form/list may assist you in getting ready to visit your doctor. This will help you remember all those questions you’ve been thinking about since your last appointment. It’s
important that you have all the information available to you when you visit your doctor, so that you and your doctor can make informed medical decisions that are right for you. Another set
of ears is helpful, like a friend or relative and makes for good company too.

Dear Friends,
We know that this is a particularly difficult time with the many challenges that seniors face in Massachusetts, including barriers about where to find assistance in times of need and the
increase of scams happening during the COVID-19 pandemic. We invite you to join Attorney General Maura Healey and staff for an overview of our actions
and programs to assist seniors affected by scams/fraudulent activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this brief online summit, seniors and service providers will learn about preventive
measures, a variety of protection guidelines, and assistance available that can be used to assist seniors in our communities across the Commonwealth.

Warning: Beware of COVID-19 Vaccination
Scam Offers
As the first Americans line up for COVID-19 vaccine injections, so also are the scammers preparing to use this opportunity to scam you.
Don’t get scammed! You should know the following:
• Most Medicare beneficiaries will not have to pay to get this vaccine during this public health emergency.
• If someone offers to put you on a vaccination list in exchange for money, you are being
scammed.
• You cannot pay to get on a list.
• If someone offers to get you early access to the vaccine in exchange for your credit card or Medicare number, you are being scammed. You cannot pay to get early access to the vaccine.
• No one from Medicare or your municipal or state health department will contact
you and offer you the vaccine.
• No one from a vaccine distribution site or a private insurance company will call you asking for your Social Security number, your credit card number, or bank account
information to sign you up to get the vaccine. If you get such a call you are being scammed.
• If you get a call, text, email or even someone knocking on your door claiming they can get you access to the vaccine, you are being scammed. You can report scams by
calling the Massachusetts Senior Medicare Patrol Program’s Report-A-Scam line at 978-946-1243 or email to [email protected]
Remember: Never give your Medicare number, your bank account information, your credit ca
numbers, your Social Security number, or any other personal information to anyone you do not
know and trust. Don’t get scammed.
For additional guidance call the Massachusetts Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Program at
