We had another good group of nominees this month (101). We had the following participation amount by site:

MHC – 52 MPC/MDS – 23

MWC - 26 I want to thank each of you who take the time to submit one of your fellow staff and recognize them for this honor. I know that it means a lot because I see staff wearing their stickers and saving past recognitions. Just as reminder, both the honoree and the nominators get gift cards.

The three persons selected for this month are Colette Beniamin (MWC), Jeanette Brancato (MPC) and Angela Williams (MHC). The first person recognized is Colette Beniamin. She is a PSP at the Marklund Wasmond Center. She had two nominations. She was recognized for working a double shift after two call-offs. In the other, she was commended for staying after her shift – for an entire additional shift – when there was a last minute call-off. Colette is recognized for her attitude and teamwork. The next person is Jeanette Brancato. Jeanette is the Nursing Unit Coordinator at the Marklund Philip Center. She received six nominations from five different nominators. She was recognized in one for the great training that she gave a new staff member. In three of the nominations, she was commended for her teamwork and how she regularly goes over-and-above for the residents and staff. In another, she was thanked for the way she “stopped everything” to help a fellow staff member. She was commended in another for her help in a “mini crisis.” Jeanette is recognized for her attitude, accountability and teamwork. And last but not least is Angela Williams. Angela is a QIDP on the Marklund Hyde Center campus. She had two nominations. She was recognized for doing an outstanding job in managing her home and taking the additional training to be able to pass medications. She makes herself available to pass meds whenever needed. She was also commended for taking the time to get some great pictures of our residents at the Harlem Globetrotters game and getting them to Marketing & Communications staff so they could be shared on social media. Angela is recognized for her attitude, creativity and teamwork. Again, congratulations to all but a special commendation to Colette Beniamin, Jeanette Brancato and

Angela Williams.

The Claire Haverkampf Commemorative Award was established to honor the

principles of Marklund’s founding family. The award annually honors an

employee who demonstrates the character embodied and modeled by Claire

Haverkampf.

Working at Marklund has been and will always be about more than providing

basic care. As it was for Claire, Marklund is about impacting and changing lives.

This award also allows us to recognize an individual who compassionately

matches every part of Marklund’s Culture and has consistently demonstrated

these values throughout his/her long-time employment (7 years or more).

ROUND 2 VOTING HAS BEGUN!

Ballots can be found on the next page or at your facility’s front desk.

Turn in your ballot to a Culture Box by the end of the day 3/13/20.

Easy Broiled Tilapia Gyros Simple, delicious. This recipe for Easy Fish Gyros, with crunchy fish and creamy Tzatziki sauce, is a perfect solution for a busy weeknight meal. And as a humble seafood dinner, this quick recipe is especially intended for Lent so you get your Friday-fish-fry on, but have it done in 25 minutes to move right on for the more important things in life.

Fish:

1 1/2 pounds tilapia fillets

1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt

Cooking spray

Tzatziki:

3/4 cup plain 2% reduced-fat Greek yogurt

2 teaspoons chopped fresh dill

1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 garlic cloves, minced

Remaining ingredients:

4 Mediterranean-style wheat flatbreads

1/2 cup vertically sliced red onion

1 ripe avocado, peeled and cut into 12 thin slices

1 medium tomato, thinly sliced

1/2 small English cucumber, thinly sliced

Ingredients

How to Make It:

Step 1 : Preheat broiler.

Step 2: To prepare fish, brush fish with oil; sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon pepper and 1/4 teaspoon salt.

Place fish on a broiler pan coated with cooking spray. Broil 6 minutes or until fish flakes easily when test-

ed with a fork or desired degree of doneness.

Step 3: To prepare tzatziki, combine yogurt and next 5 ingredients (through garlic) in a food processor

or blender; pulse until smooth.

Step 4: Spread 2 tablespoons tzatziki in the center of each flatbread. Divide fish evenly among flat-

breads. Top each serving with 2 tablespoons onion, 3 avocado slices, 2 tomato slices, and about 6 cu-

cumber slices; fold in half . ENJOY!
