Scrubbyman™ Quick Tip
Typical glass and multi-surface cleaners contain abrasives and
chemicals (i.e. ammonia or ethanol) that will damage LCD and Plasma TV and com-puter screens. Paper towels and rough rags
can also cause damage. Before cleaning, always unplug electrical devices.
Many manufacturers recommend dusting these screens with a microfiber cloth.
If heavier cleaning is necessary, specialty cleaners can be used. Always check manufacturers in-structions before cleaning. When using a solu-tion, spray the microfiber to dampen, do not
spray cleaners directly on the surface. Wiping in a consistent motion and
pattern can help eliminate any streaks.

Dust contains
many different microscopic par-
ticles. Many of these items can be hazard-
ous to the health of in-dividuals, including
VOCs, allergens, viruses and
bacteria.
Dust is composed of many particles includ-ing dead skin cells, fabric fibers, pet dander, pollen, decaying organic matter, residue from cleaning chemicals, pollutants, bacteria, mold, fungi, viruses, dust mites and dust mite excrement as well as dirt and debris tracked in from the outdoors.
Not only can dust make areas look dirty, but it can also cause scratch-
ing and damage to wood, glass and other surfaces. Dust
on surfaces and in the air poses a risk to individuals
with allergies and other breathing problems as well.
Dust also contains mi-crobes such as bacteria, viruses, mold and fungi, all of which can be haz-ardous to the health of in-dividuals. In some cases, they can even be deadly.
All areas should be dusted regularly to help
keep surfaces clean and free from mar-
ring and to improve air quality.
Dust before vacuuming.Start dusting from the top
and work towards the bottom.Work clockwise around a room
to avoid missing anything.Improper use of furniture oil and polish can
lead to build-up or clouding of wood surfaces.Use slipcovers on upholstered furniture.
Keep windows closed to prevent dust and debris from blowing in.
Check and maintain air filters.Placing industrial-strength outdoor and indoor mats
at every entryway.
Top 8 Dusting Tips
Feather dusters are ideal for irregular surfaces, small spaces and for dusting between and around delicate
items. Fine, soft ostrich feathers are the best choice for dusters and have the most surface
area to grab dust particles. Feath-er dusters hold dust and brush it off
of items, which is why it is important to work from the top down when cleaning a room.
Lambswool dusters are great for dust-ing both irregular and flat surfaces. With
extendable handles, these dusters reach door frames, ceilings,
baseboards, shelves and large furniture.
Polywool dusters are anti-aller-genic and washable. These dusters are electrostati-cally charged to attract
dust, dirt and debris and hold it in until washed.
Microfiber cloths are a great choice for dusting and cleaning. The split fibers cre-ate a positive charge that grabs onto dust and dirt without damaging surfaces. Microfiber is Safe for dry dusting hardwoods and for dusting and cleaning
without chemicals or oils. From a tightly-woven smooth cloth to a looser, heavier
texture, there is a selection of cloths to fit your dusting and cleaning needs.
Microfiber dusters have the same great qualities as
cloths but can be used in harder
to reach areas, like ceiling fans, shelves, and irregular surfaces.

There are many different types
of dusting tools, each with their own special features and appropriate uses.
Choosing the correct tool for the job is important for getting rid of
dust properly and protecting surfaces while maintaining
the safest environment possible.
Dust Mite Facts
Dust mites are microscopic organisms that feed on decaying skin
cells found in bedding, carpet, upholstery and dust. In fact, a good portion of what is considered “dust” is
actually made up of the fecal matter and carcasses of dust mites. The fecal matter contains an allergen that is blamed
for allergies, hay fever, dermatitis, rhinitis and asthma.
There is no way to completely eliminate dust mites from an environment, but regular and thorough
maintenance can keep populations down and help al-leviate symptoms. Dust mites cannot be see with less
than 10x magnification, but they are everywhere.
Washing fabrics regularly in HOT water, vacuum-ing, cleaning carpets and upholstery and dusting
regularly are the best ways to handle dust mites. Dust accumulates on smooth and cluttered surfaces and
provides a habitat and breeding ground for the dust mites. The best way to insure a clean
surface is to use a damp microfiber dusting cloth to clean the
surface.
When dusting overhead items, always wear safety eyewear to prevent dust and debris from
falling in your eyes.
Always unplug electrical devices before cleaning or dusting.
When dusting high areas, use dusters with extendable handles to avoid climbing,
reaching and falling accidents.
