BLUETOOTH TRAVEL TIME SYSTEM Purchase of over 160 units
Installed on State corridors and City roads Logistic approach on
secondary roads Works as a point detection unit tied to paths Over
200 plus miles of road coverage Cost was under $1.1 million with
five year support
Slide 3
HOW IT WORKS The devices capture the unique MAC address of the
BlueTooth device in the vehicle and the Travel Time is calculated
by the Trafficcast Server when a match is seen.

Trademarked device name is BlueTOAD. Initial deployment shown is on
I-95 and US 1, which parallel each other in this area.

Determining when to close a bridge due to severe weather
requires onsite monitoring Today, this bridge monitoring is
problematic: Wind-speed data is gathered by law enforcement as
severe weather approaches Inefficient use of public safety
resources Dangerous for deployed personnel Data-collecting is
sometimes inaccurate Dissemination of data is not always timely
