On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is a pleasure to welcome you to “Fats & Oils Belgrade”, 1st pan-European International Conference & Exhibition on vegetable oils.

We wish to thank Industrijsko Bilje/Business Association “Industrial Plants” of Serbia, for supporting this inaugural event. Our thanks are also extended to our valuable Sponsors and Exhibitors, without support of whom, organising this event would be impossible.

We especially want to thank the delegates in the house, who have made this event happen with their consideration. Today, we have delegates from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, UK, U.S.A.; and of course Serbia.

Serbia is one of the few exporters of sunflower seeds, crude and refined sunoil in the world and assumes a very important role in the flow of trade in the Balkans. Serbia; together with neighbouring contries Coatia, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Bosnia; has a strong, national and independent fats and oils industry and has not yet been consolidated by multinational companies, unlike the other neighbouring countries such as Romania and Hungary.

Bosnia-Turkey free trade agreement and the upcoming Serbia-Turkey trade agreement have increased the importance of Serbia as a sunflower seed producer and potential sunflower oil exporter to Turkey. Serbia produces some 700,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds and around 600,000 tonnes of soybeans. Serbia produces around 220,000 tonnes of sunflower oil and is a net exporter of both sunflower seeds and sunoil to neighbouring countries. In 2016, Serbia has exported in excess of 130,000 tonnes of sunflower oil. The new Serbia-Turkey trade agreement will allow Serbia to duty-free export of 15,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds, 25,000 tonnes of crude sunflower oil, 10,000 tonnes of refined sunflower oil and 5,000 tonnes of non-GMO soybeans to Turkey.

“Fats & Oils Belgrade 2018” is the perfect opportunity for Serbian and Turkish vegetable oil industrialsits to come together and investigate ways of co-operation, prior to start of new trade agreement.

У име Организационог одбора, задовољство ми је да Вас поздравим на “Fats & Oils Belgrade 2018”, 1. паневропској међународној конференцији и изложби о биљним уљима.

Желим да се захвалим Индустријском Биљу / Пословној заједници “Индустријско биље” Србије, за подршку овој првој Конференцији у Србији. Захваљујемо се на указаном поверењу спонзорима и излагачима, без чије подршке организовање овог догађаја не би било овако успешно.

Посебно желимо да се захвалимо делегатима присутним на Конференцији, који су учинили да се Конференција одржи уз њихову подршку. Данас имамо делегате из Аустрије, Босне и Херцеговине, Бугарске, Хрватске, Немачке, Италије, Русије, Швајцарске, Турске, Украјине, САД и наравно Србије.

Србија је једна од ретких извозника семена сунцокрета, сировог и рафинисаног сунцокретовог уља у свету и преузима веома важну улогу у протоку трговине на Балкану. Србија, заједно са суседним земљама Хрватском, Бугарском, Црном Гором и Босном, има јаку, националну и независну индустрију масти и уља и још не припада мултинационалним компанијама, за разлику од других суседних земаља као што су Румунија и Мађарска.

Споразум о слободној трговини између Босне и Херцеговине и предстојећи трговински споразум између Србије и Турске повећали су значај Србије као произвођача сунцокрета и потенцијалног извозника сунцокрета у Турску. Србија производи око 700.000 тона семена сунцокрета и око 600.000 тона соје. Србија производи око 220.000 тона сунцокретовог уља и нето је извозник семена сунцокрета и сунцокретовог уља у суседне земље. У 2016. години Србија је извезла преко 130.000 тона сунцокретовог уља. Нови трговински споразум између Србије и Турске омогућиће Србији бесцарински извоз 15.000 тона сунцокрета, 25.000 тона сировог сунцокретовог уља, 10.000 тона рафинисаног сунцокретовог уља и 5.000 тона не-ГМО соје у Турску.

“Fats & Oils Belgrade“ 2018 је савршена прилика да се српски и турски произвођачи биљних уља могу упознати и истражити начине сарадње, пре почетка новог трговинског споразума.

Why Belgrade?Зашто Београд?

Why Belgrade?

Serbia, with a population just over 7 million, is a net exporter of edible oils & oilseeds. Geographically situated very central for flow of trade in Central and Southeast Europe, Serbia’s oils and oilseeds exports mostly go to the neighbouring countries such as Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Greece, Czechia and indirectly to Turkey, within the framework of Turkey-Bosnia free trade agreement. Although Bosnia & Herzegovina does not produce any oil crops itself, Bosnian industrialists buy their sunseeds and sunoil from Serbia, crush, refine and re-export to Turkey. Therefore, Serbian, Bosnian and Turkish industrialists are interested in coming together for commercial consideration. In this context, Serbia and Turkey signed a free trade agreement in 2017, which will also allow the Serbian side to have equal conditions of trade with Turkey.

“Fats & Oils Belgrade”, is the only regular international vegoils event organised in the region. In fact, there is no other regular international vegoils event of this size, held anywhere in Europe other than Istanbul where “Fats & Oils Istanbul” is held for the last 8 years.

On top of above reasoning, Belgrade is a natural location for such an international event on vegetable oils with Serbia’s unique role in the region as the main producer of oilseeds among the former Yugoslav countries. Located at the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers, Belgrade is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. A vibrant city with its historical landmarks, renewed accommodation facilites, infrastructure and a buzzing night life, Belgrade is a popular tourist destination in the region and an ideal location for an international event such as, “Fats & Oils Belgrade”.

Belgrade welcomes the delegates of “Fats & Oils Belgrade” 2018. As Organising Committee, we are determined to make this conference & exhibition a regular event in the European vegoils calendar.

Зашто Београд?

Србија, са популацијом од нешто преко 7 милиона, је нето извозник јестивих уља и уљарица. Географски смештена у сам центар трговинских токова за централну и југоисточну Европу, извоз Српског уља и уљарица углавном се фокусира на земље из региона као што су Хрватска, Македонија, Босна, Црна Гора, Словачка, Грчка, Чешка и индиректно Турска, у оквиру Турско-Босанског споразума о слободној трговини. Иако Босна и Херцеговина не производи сама уљарице, Босанска индустрија купује зрно сунцокрета и сунцокретово уље из Србије, сирово и рафинисано, и поново га извози за Турску. Стога, Српска, Босанска и Турска индустрија уља су за изналажење заједничког становишта за равноправна комерцијална решења. У оквиру тога, Србија и Турска су потписале споразум о слободној трговини 2017. године који ће омогућити и српској страни равноправне услове трговине са Турском.

“Fats & Oils Belgrade”, је једини редован међународни догађај за биљна уља који се организује у региону. Уствари не постоји редован догађај овог обима који се одржава било где у Европи осим у Истанбулу где се последњих 8 година одржава “Fats & Oils Istanbul”.

На основу горе наведеног, Београд има природну локацију за такав међународни догађај на тему биљних уља, са јединственом улогом Србије у региону као главног произвођача уљарица међу земљама бивше Југославије. Лоциран на ушћу реке Саве у Дунав, Београд је један од најлепших градова у Европи. Град пун живота, са историјским споменицима обновљеним смештајним капацитетима, инфраструктуром и богатим ноћним животом, Београд је популарна туристичка дестинација у региону и савршена локација за догађаје попут “Fats & Oils Belgrade”.

Београд жели добродошлицу делегатима “Fats & Oils Belgrade” 2018. Као Организациони комитет, ми смо одлучни да од ове конференције и изложбе направимо редован догађај у Европском календару биљних уља.

Faik Genç Joint Chair, Organising CommitteeAgriPro Limited, Istanbul, Turkey

Faik Genç has been in the commodities business for 32 years. He began his career at Sabancı Group’s London based trading company in 1985, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University. He left the company as Commercial Director in 1996, moving to Turkey and joined crusher/refiner Doysan A.Ş. as Commercial Director. He was appointed General Manager in 1999. He took an active role in establishment of joint-venture with ADM in 2000 and he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of ADM/Turkey following ADM’s total acquisition of the company. In 2008 he set up AgriPro. AgriPro provides transparent brokerage and consultancy to the fats & oils industry, publishing regular reports which are sold to over 60 companies. AgriPro published the first ever detailed “Turkish Fats & Oils Industry Report” in January 2012 and released updates in 2014 and 2017. Fats & Oils Bel-grade” is the 10th international event which has AgriPro organised. Faik Genç is a former Vice Chairman of Turkish Vegetable Oils Industrialists Association. He is a sought after speaker on sunflower complex as well as Turkish fats & oils industry and frequently appears as a speaker in international events in countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Malaysia.

Фаик Генц послује на тржишту сировина већ 32. године. 1985. године започиње своју каријеру у трговинској компанији у оквиру Sabancı групе са седиштем у Лондону, као Дипломирани машински инжењер са Техничког универзитета Блиског истока. Напустио је компанију као комерцијални директор 1996. године преселивши се у Турску где се прикључује уљари/рафинерији Doysan A.Ş. као комерцијални директор. Именован је за генералног директора 1999. године. Преузима активну улогу у формирању заједничког пословања са ADM-ом 2000. године и именован је за оперативног директора ADM/Турска након потпуног преузимања компаније од стране ADMа. 2008. године он покреће AgriPro. AgriPro обезбеђује транспарентно посредовање и саветодавне услуге индустрији масти и уља, објављујући редовне извештаје који се продају за преко 60 компанија. AgriPro објављује свој први детаљни “Извештај о Турској индустрији масти и уља” у јануару 2012. године и затим објављује допуне 2014. и 2017. године. “Fаts & Oils Belgrаde” је десети међународни догађај у организацији AgriPro-а. Фаик Генц је бивши подпредседник Турског удружења индустрије биљних уља. Он је тражени предавач на тему сунцокрета као и Турске индустрије масти и уља и често се појављује као предавач на међународним догађајима у земљама као што су Русија, Украјина, Бугарска и Малезија.

Since 2001, Dr. Olga Čurović is the director of the Business Association “Industrial Plants”, headquartered in Novi Sad, in Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the administrative center of northern Serbia. The association gathers all oil, sugar and tobacco factories in Serbia. She has graduated from the Faculty of Economics where she continued her professional career, in teaching and scientific research. After that, she was appointer the Minister of Agriculture of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. She gained immense experience in the work of state bodies, which facilitated her the approach to harmonise and find an adequate solution for members of the Business Association “Industrial Plants.

Др Олга Чуровић, од 2001. године директор пословне заједнице „Индустријско биље“ са седиштем у Новом Саду, у АП Војводини, административни центар северне Србије. Удружење окупља све фабрике уља, шећера и дувана у Србији. Завршила је Економски факултет где и наставља професионалну каријеру у настави и научно истраживачком раду. Након тога је била министар пољопривреде у АП Војводини. Огромно искуство је стекла радом у државним органима, чиме је олакшан приступ за усаглашавање и изналажење адекватног решења за чланице удружења Пословне заједнице „Индустријско биље“.

Julia GarkavenkoAPK-Inform, Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine

Julia Garkavenko graduated from European University of Management and Business majoring in Finance and Crediting (1999). Julia is a leading expert of UkrAgroConsult being with the company for more than 15 years. She has 18 years experience in analysis and forecasting of global agriculture markets, is author of numerous publications in Ukrainian and international crushing industry magazines. Since 2008, Julia concentrates on analysis of oilseeds and vegoil markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea countries as well as global market developments. Julia’s primary focus is crop forecasts, S&D balances, market research and high value added products. Julia is chief editor of UkrAgroConsult’s specialised newsletter, “Black Sea Vegoils” (Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Belarus).

Јулија Гаркавенко је дипломирала на Европском универзитету за менаџмент и пословање, на смеру финансије и кредити 1999. године. Јулија је водећи стручњак UkrAgroConsult-а и у компанији је више од 15 година. Има 18 година искуства у анализи и предвиђању глобалних пољопривредних тржишта, аутор је бројних публикација у Украјини и у међународним часописима уљарске индустрије. Почевши са 2008. годином Јулија се концентрише на анализу тржишта семена уљарица и биљног уља на територији Украјине и земаља Црног мора као и на глобална тржишна дешавања. Јулијин основни фокус су предвиђања усева, биланса понуде и потражње, испитивање тржишта и производи високе вредности. Јулија је главни уредник UkrAgroConsult специјализованог билтена, “Blаck Seа Vegoils” (Украјина, Русија, Казакстан, Бугарска, Румунија, Молдавија, Белорусија).

Ben Buckner AgResource Co., Chicago, IL, U.S.A.

Ben Buckner hails from Nashville, TN, and graduated with a degree in economics from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. He started with career in agricultural economics at Iowa Grain Company in 2007, has been with AgResource Company since 2008, and has served as chief grains economist since 2015. He consults for a host of bakeries, as well as grain producers, and he’s presented market outlooks at Universities and farm marketing groups all over the U.S., and for grain trading companies in Europe.

Бен Бакнер долази из Нешвила, држава Тенеси. Дипломирао је на Трансилванијском универзитету у Лексингтону, држава Кентаки, на смеру економија. Започео је каријеру у пољопривредној економији у Ajovа житној компанији 2007. године, а од 2008. године је са AgResource компанијом где, од 2015. године, обавља дужност главног економисте задуженог за житарице. Господин Бакнер обавља консултантске услуге за велики број пекара као и произвођача житарица, и представљао је тржишна предвиђања на универзитетима и фармерским маркетиншким групама по целим Сједињеним Америчким Државама као и за компаније из Европе које је баве трговином житарицама.

Jonathan Grange Sunstone Brokers, Montreux, Switzerland

Jonathan Grange has extensive commodity trading experience mainly in agriculture and specifically oilseeds & vegetable oils. He learnt to trade with LDC in Paris in the 1980’s and was Head of Softseeds & Vegoils for André, Switzerland in the 1990’s. In 2001, he started an IT company in India and then spent some time in Ukraine farming. He has worked as a cash broker since 2011 starting the oilseeds department for a Swiss grain broker. In early 2016, he started Sunstone Brokers with Sergiy Repetskiy. The company tries to deliver comprehensive market understanding, integrity, innovation whilst being a sounding board for clients. The company provides reports with fundamental analysis and the impact of macroeconomics on commodity price.

Џонатан Грејнџ поседује велико искуство у трговини сировинама, већином у пољопривредном сектору, посебно са семеном уљарица и биљним уљима. Научио је да тргује на LDC-у у Паризу осамдесетих година прошлог века, а деведесетих година прошлог века је водио Јестива семена и биљна уља за André у Швајцарској. 2001. године оснива IT компанију у Индији и затим проводи време у Украјини бавећи се радом на фарми. Ради као брокер од 2011. године основавши департман за семена уљарица за Швајцарског брокера који се бави житарицама. Почетком 2016. године оснива Sуnstone Brokers са Сергејом Репетскијем. Компанија покушава да представи свеобухватно разумевање тржишта, интегритет и иновације док служи и као саветодавно тело за клијенте. Компанија обезбеђује извештаје са основним анализама и утицајем макроекономије на цену сировина.

Dragana Bajic was born in 1992. She gratuated from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Department of Engineering Management. After professional development program in the USA, she came back to Serbia and started a career in brand marketing. Now, she is working as a Executive Assistant to CEO at Dijamant JSC.

Драгана Бајиć је рођена 1992. год. Дипломирала је на Факултету техничких наука, одсек за инжењерски менаџмент. После програма професионалног усавршавања у САД, вратила се у Србију и започела каријеру у бренд маркетингу. Сада ради као асистент генералног директора у Дијаманту.

Sigfried Meyer MeyerOil, Margarethen, AustriaSiegfried Meyer is a leading member of the Austrian Biofuels Institute in Vienna and the owner of the trading company MeyerOil, which has its important role in supplying the Biodiesel industry with appropriate feedstock. MeyerOil today is active in sourcing of rapeseed and rapeoil throughout

the EU 27, Ukraine and Russia. The Austrian Biofuels Institute is an international centre of competence for liquid biofuels and was founded in 1995. It maintains a team of presently 52 independent experts, from 8 countries and 4 continents. The Austrian Biofuels Institute provides professional support for biodiesel projects, including: feasibility studies and business plans, partner searches, due diligence and second opinion studies, industry surveys, development of fuel standards and quality management programs, research, development and dissemination.

Зигфрид Мајер је водећи члан Аустријског института за био горива у Бечу и власник трговинске компаније MeyerOil, која има важну улогу у снабдевању биодизел индустрије са адекватиним сировинама. Данас је MeyerOil активан у набавци уљане репице и уља уљане репице путем EU 28, Украјине и Русије. Cenk Aydoğan Yonca Food, Manisa, Turkey

Cenk Aydoğan is the Assistant General Manager of Yonca Food. Prior to his current position, he has worked for commodity trading company AGRON. Following his graduation from Middle East Technical University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Cenk Aydoğan started his career at Marsa Kraft Jacobs Suchard as Purchasing Manager. He then moved on to Mineral Gıda as Commercial Director and then moved to Cadbury Kent A.Ş. as Procurement Manager. In 2008, he became the Purchasing & Foreign Trade Director of Savola Foods, Turkey where he worked until 2013. Between 2013-2015 he has Supply Chain Director of Ülker International. He joined Yonca Food as Assistant General Manager, reporting directly to CEO. DISCOVER BELGRADE

Belgrade, meaning “White City”, is the capital and largest city of Serbia. Being the former capital of Yugoslavia, It is located at the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonain Plain meets the Balkans. The urban area of the City of Belgrade has a population of 1.25 million, while over 1.7 million people live within its administrative limits.

One of the most important prehistoric cultures of Europe, the Vinča culture, evolved within the Belgrade area in the 6th millennium BC. In antiquity, Thraco-Dacians inhabited the region and after 279 BC Celts conquered the city, naming it Sinidün. It was conquered by the Romans during the reign of Augustus, and awarded city rights in the mid-2nd century. It was settled by the Slavs in the 520s, and changed hands several times between the Byzantine Empire, Frankish Empire, Bulgarian Empire and Kingdom of Hungary before it became the capital of Serbian king Stephen Dragutin (1282–1316).

Belgrade’s geographical location comes from ancient myths and legends. The rock overlooking the spot where Sava river meets Danube has been identified as one of the places in the story of Jason and the Argonauts. Belgrade lies 117 metres above sea level. The historical core of Belgrade, Kalemegdan, lies on the right banks of both rivers. Since the 19th century, the city has been expanding to the south and east; after World War II, New Belgrade was built on the left bank of the Sava river, connecting Belgrade with Zemun. Smaller, mainly residential communities across the Danube, like Krnjača, Kotež and Borča, also merged with the city. New Belgrade is the country’s main business district and the main centre. It offers a range of facilities, such as hotels, congress halls modern office buildings and business parks. The Belgrade Stock Exchange is also located in New Belgrade, and has a market capitalization of €6.5 billion.

The most prominent museum in Belgrade is the National Museum, founded in 1844. The museum houses a collection of more than 400,000 exhibits, including many foreign masters like Bosch, Titian, Rubens, Van Dyck, Cézanne, Renoir, Monet, Lautrec, Matisse, Picasso, Gauguin, Chagall, Van Gogh, Mondrian etc., and also the famous Miroslav’s Gospel. The Ethnographic Museum, established in 1901, contains more than 150,000 items showcasing the rural and urban culture of the Balkans, particularly the countries of former Yugoslavia.

The Museum of Contemporary Art was the first Contemporary art museum in Europe founded in 1958 and has a collection of around 35,000 works including Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Joan Miró, David Hockney, Ivan Meštrović and others since 1900. The museum was renovated in 2017. The Nikola Tesla Museum, founded in 1952, preserves the personal items of Nikola Tesla, the inventor after whom the Tesla unit was named. It holds around 160,000 original documents and around 5,700 personal other items including his urne. The last of the major Belgrade museums is the Museum of Vuk and Dositej, which showcases the lives, work and legacy of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić and Dositej Obradović, the 19th century reformer of the Serbian literary language and the first Serbian Minister of Education, respectively. Belgrade also houses the Museum of African Art, founded in 1977, which has the large collection of art from West Africa.

The historic areas and buildings of Belgrade are among the city’s premier attractions. They include Skadarlija, the National Museum and adjacent National Theatre, Zemun, Nikola Pašić Square, Terazije, Students’ Square, the Kalemegdan Fortress, Knez Mihailova Street, the Parliament, the Church of Saint Sava, and the Old Palace. On top of this, there are many parks, monuments, museums, cafés, restaurants and shops on both sides of the river. The hilltop Avala Monument and Avala Tower offer views over the city. Elite neighborhood of Dedinje is situated near the Topčider and Košutnjak parks. The beli dvor (White Palace), house of royal family Karađorđević, is open for visitors. The palace has many valuable artworks. Nearby, Josip Broz Tito’s mausoleum, called The House of Flowers, documents the life of the former Yugoslav president.

Belgrade has a reputation for offering a vibrant nightlife; many clubs that are open until dawn can be found throughout the city. The most recognizable nightlife features of Belgrade are the barges (splav), spread along the banks of the Sava and Danube Rivers. Skadarlija, the city’s old bohemian neighbourhood. Many weekend visitors, particularly from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia prefer Belgrade nightlife to that of their own capitals, due to a perceived friendly atmosphere, plentiful clubs and bars, cheap drinks, the lack of language difficulties, and the lack of restrictive night life regulation.
