Roll-up those sleeves, fasten those aprons, but wait...we can't forget to read! Children will be able to explore the world of cooking through a single story. CATS TennisBe part of this innovative program that allows us to offer tennis instruction right here at Friends! Perfected by veteran tennis professionals and child education specialists, CATS lessons and exercises are carefully tailored to support children's physical and motor skill development. Children will learn how to swing, volley and use proper footwork. With a focus on fair play and positive attitude, students will play real games each week. Limited enrollment. Open to K–3rd graders. DramaZone®'s Hip Hop Dance ClassDance like your favorite pop stars! In this high-energy, age-appropriate class, kids will learn fun hip-hop techniques and combinations, danced to their favorite music. Impress your friends with all your new moves! Open to 1st -3rd graders.WORKSHOP FEE: $250

Ice Skating at Chelsea Piers≥o f f-c a m p u s Learn all the fundamentals of Ice-skating in a fun and safe environment. Expert coaches will instruct the children on the ice where they will learn forward and backward skating: stops, including snowplow and T-stop: and crossovers. Rocking Lego Robotics withTEKintellectStudents learn to design and construct original, mechanized models from Lego® components. They receive instruction regarding the scientific principles embedded in the models, and then proceed quickly to a fun, hands-on, multi-sensory experience, in which they construct the models and play with them. Carousels, cranes, dune buggies, conveyer belts, windmills and more will come to life in your child’s hands, through their own effort and ingenuity! Science Exploration with BioBusInquisitive young scientist are invited to take there science exploration to the next level while working side by side with professional scientists. Students will learn to become stewards of their environment. They will collect and observe the microscopic world around them. They will start to experience the world with new eyes. Additionally, Students will be encouraged to make their own hypotheses and design their own experiments. We will end the trimester with a field trip to the BioBase a state-of-the-art research laboratory. Open to 3rd and 4th graders.WORKSHOP FEE: $300

4th Grade Homework HelpFourth Graders can jump start their homework every day of the week. This program will provide students with the help and structure they need to complete their assignments.

Discovering Magic with After School MagicDiscovering Magic is a complete crash course in all things magic. The NYC skate scene moves indoors for the winter and so does the FAT Skate Club! Hop on the bus as we head to Skate Brooklyn for a private session at their indoor mini half-pipe and skate facility in Park Slope. There's something for everyone whether you're a seasoned thrasher or just starting out--no experience necessary. For beginners, we will cover the basics of skateboarding such as balance, pushing and turning. The more advanced can learn to drop in, pump the transitions and slash the coping. Skateboard, pads and helmet required. Group will return at 5:30 p.m.TRANSPORTATION AND PROGRAM FEE $400

One of the safest sports around and a proven workout, FATsters have the opportunity to join the blading craze by learning the moves from an "inline" pro! In this class we will tie dye, print, weave and sew with fabrics, yarns, beading and more to create soft sculptures, stuffed imaginary creatures, and even wearable art. Come and explore the softer side of your imagination.WORKSHOP FEE : $175

Karma Kids Everything Yoga!All the yoga fun with a focus on our favorite themes for each class! Every week, we’ll have a different theme—Circus Yoga, Partner Yoga, Butterfly Yoga, Group Yoga, American Doll Yoga, Yoga Games, and more! All of our favorite parts of yoga will culminate in an amazing show that we’ll collectively prepare for grown ups at the end of the trimester. This is the ultimate yoga experience! Come, Play, Yoga! Child’s Play NY: Roald Dahl on Stage IIIn this advanced class we will explore the wild and wondrous worlds of our favorite children’s author! We rehearse a fully staged production of a Roald Dahl book and delve into acting technique, comedic timing and character development. Song and spoken-word poetry also by Dahl will augment our rehearsal process. Class will end at 5:00pm. Prerequisite: Please note this class is only open to students who attended the level I version during the 2014-2015 school year.WORKSHOP FEE: $360

Animated AdventuresTHE GOOD SCHOOL NYC

Students in this stop motion animation after school class explore new frontiers of stop motion animation. Whether they are animating with found objects, legos, paint or clay, this class is sure to excite! These young animators will use professional grade stop motion software Dragonframe Stop Motion and will get familiar with using pro grade tech such as DSLR cameras, tripods and Mac computers. The resulting short films can be screened again and again, downloaded and shared with the world.Open to K–2nd GradersWORKSHOP FEE: $360

Dramazone® Musical Theatre: The Sound of Music! Act 1 Trimester 2/ Act 2 Trimester 3The hills are alive with the all time favorite musical The Sound of Music, here at Friends Seminary! Act 1 will run in Trimester 2, Act 2 will run in Trimester 3 culminating in a show for Friends and Family in June. This fun musical theatre class combines singing, dancing and acting! All talents welcome, and no experience necessary. Class will end at 5:00 pmOpen to 2nd – 4th graders.WORKSHOP FEE: $440

Xtreme Winter Football BSNYSnowfall and cold December winds would keep other classes indoors, but not so for Xtreme Winter Football. Utilizing “touch-tackle” rules in the Outer Courtyard, this class keeps the game of football safe and exciting. So lace up your boots and grab a pair of gloves because we’re playing through the season just like the pros. Coaches from BSNY will include Division 1 College Players.

Take Me to the Water≥o f f-c a m p u sWhether you are a beginning swimmer oryou want to be on our swim team, we makeswimming fun. Join the Take Me To TheWater Swim School at our private, heatedindoor swimming pool for swim lessons. Allclasses are in small groups (1-on-2 to 2-on-4) based on each child’s age and ability.Our expert instructors specialize in teachingchildren, using our unique and creativetechniques that encourages them to advancetheir skills. Dazzling Discoveries Hands-on ScienceLaunch a rocket, erupt a volcano, create a science circus, dig for dinosaur bones, make and reveal invisible ink, design and test cars and flying objects—discover the physical world through these and other exciting projects with Dazzling Discoveries’ hands-on science program. Through kid-friendly experiments and projects, students explore magnetism, chemical reactions, air

pressure, outer space, animal habitats, the human body, flight, and other wondrous real-life topics. Each week, children create take-home projects that incorporate the science theme of the class.Open to K-2nd graders.WORKSHOP AND MATERIAL FEE: $360

Child’s Play NY: Shakespeare in Play A theatre class that introduces young people to Shakespeare's dramatic masterpieces in a way that is accessible, enriching and fun. As part of the Shakespeare Ensemble, students will learn the plot of several famous plays and act out the salient points through long-form improvisations. They will work on monologues and scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet. In addition to being a great scene study/monologue class, the student are instilled with cultural and literary references from the wisdom of these plays that they will utilize for years to come. Games surrounding the characters and their incredible conflicts, desires and stories make the class a joyous exploration of both theater and Shakespeare. Open to 4th Graders Only.WORKSHOP FEE: $300

Basketball Stars of NYBasketball Stars are back at Friends to provide you with the best basketball instruction from the top coaches in the city! Join our after school program and learn how to play the game the right way while participating in weekly games. ChorusINSTRUCTOR: JOANNA PICKETTCHORAL DIRECTOR

Come, sing! This is an opportunity for motivated, enthusiastic singers and vocalists to explore more challenging choral material. With enough participation, part singing will be introduced, along with popular songs and special youth-oriented choral arrangements. Healthy and natural development of the young person's singing voice is the underlying principle of the group. Open to 2nd–4th graders.

DodgeballINSTRUCTOR: JACOB ABRAMS, AVERAGE JOE

Finally, a sports game for the masses! Whether you like to charge the line with a CC Sabathia throwing arm or prefer to hide and wait with the sneakiness of a chess master, dodgeball offers fun and excitement to every style of player. We will mix it up by alternating between the three sets of rules—Army, Jailhouse and Elimination. Open to 2nd–4th graders.

Monster MovieThe Good School NYCEver wanted to create a custom monster and see that creature come alive? Now is your chance! Join us for a season of stop motion animation magic where students learn to use professional grade stop motion software DragonFrame, create their own sets and monsters and bring them to life working together in small production groups! The finished film can be downloaded and shared again and again! Open to 3rd and 4th gradersWORKSHOP FEE: $330

Chess ClubINSTRUCTOR: PETER BARKMAN,

Open to players of all levels. Beginners will be introduced to the fundamentals of the game, basic strategy and tactics. More advanced students will learn and study correct opening strategy, middle game planning and basic end game theory. Puppets and Performance with Nora INSTRUCTOR: NORA CHAVOOSHIAN

In this class we’ll create puppets, and marionettes with clay, plaster, paper mache, fabrics and more. Our puppets can be anything that we can imagine. We’ll give them movement, personalities and purpose as we build our own puppet theater, write scripts and mount shows that match our imaginations.WORKSHOP FEE: $175

Child’s Play NY: Mini Musical: Under the SeaWe “play” with the story and characters from the Hans Christian Anderson tale and work on original and classic music that is appropriate for developing voices and exciting to perform. Creative movement combined with choreography gives the students an artistic physical outlet. Theater games and artwork surrounding the characters support the children’s understanding of how to make theater. Learn to speak mermaid/merman as you swim and play with your family under the sea. Make a trade for legs with the Sea Witch for a special skill that only you possess. Play an exciting game of Ocean Tag – and careful not to get turned into a statue! Dance at the ball on your new-found legs and sing sing sing when you get your voice back! Open to K–2nd graders.WORKSHOP FEE: $275

Magic & Circus Arts with After School MagicNo red noses or silly rabbits here… After School Magic students will learn mysterious and incredible skills ranging from top-secret slight of hand and mind reading methods to ancient Chinese YoYo and juggling techniques. Each class will introduce new and exciting, yet challenging activities that you can master and add to your repertoire. Build your confidence, be creative, and amaze everyone with your new talents. Registration

Registration form and payment are due November 16, 2015. Any registration received after will be processed only if space remains, and a late registration fee: will be assessed.

Registrations will not be processed unless accompanied by payment in full. Please make all checks payable to Friends Seminary, and send to the attention of FAT, not to the Business Office. Phone registrations will not be accepted.

Tuition aid is available. A maximum of 75% financial aid is available to those who receive aid for the academic year. Please call for details.

Children may drop or change a class within the first two weeks of the trimester. If space is available, children may add classes at any time but classes will not be pro-rated.

After December 11, 2015, refunds or credits will not be given for changes to enrollment status.

Classes may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment.
