Thailand is a land of enchantment. From the hustle and bustle of the capital city of Bangkok to the pristine, Azul beaches

of the Andaman Sea to the vibrant green rice paddy fields in remote villages across the nation – Thailand has something

for everyone. Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles for good reason. Deliver a smile to any Thai passerby and you

are guaranteed a bigger one in return. Thais are gentle, kind, easy-going and hospitable. Thais have embodied the “mai

bpen rai” (never mind) attitude and approach to life. They truly live and let live. Thailand is a family-friendly destination

attracting about 22 million visitors each year. The nation is conveniently located at the center of the Indochina peninsula

in Southeast Asia with accessibility and easy border crossings into Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Malaysia.

Thailand is a nation that will captivate and inspire you, dazzle you and take your breath away. Awake at dawn to observe

bear-footed Buddhist monks in saffron robes collecting their neighborhood alms. Pay merit at a number of shimmering

golden Buddhist temples. Spend an afternoon trekking in the remote hill tribe villages of northern Thailand. Bask on

the white-sanded beaches of Koh Lanta while taking in a Southeast Asian sunset. Climb waterfalls and zip-line through

the lush northern provinces. Enjoy the intensity of a traditional Thai massage as your masseuse pounds and pummels

your muscles. Savor a bowl of piping hot Tom Yum Gai at a nearby restaurant street stall. Lounge all day in a hammock

in the quaint, timeless city of Pai. Rent a motorbike and traverse your way to the top of Doi Inthanon – Thailand’s highest

peak. Spend an afternoon exploring the reef while scuba diving off the island of Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand. Sip

cocktails on rooftop bars in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit. Be tantalized by a ladyboy cabaret performance at Chiang Mai’s Night

Bazaar. Elbow your way through morning and night markets selling everything from ripe Rambutan to Mekong fish to

galangal and tamarind paste. Enjoy the spectacular festival of Loy Krathong where thousands of sky lanterns are

released into the night sky bringing good luck and taking away negativity. Go wild for three solid days during Songkran

– Thailand’s New Year celebration – and enjoy the street revelry of a nationwide water war. Or simply escape into a silent

meditation retreat at a Buddhist monastery off the beaten path. Whether you want a relaxing getaway, a spiritual

awakening, a recreational adventure or a cultural extravaganza, Thailand promises to deliver.

Thailand is a traveller’s dream: packed with extraordinary sights, home to some of the best island paradises anywhere, offering a cuisine that’s unequalled, and with people who are truly some of the friendliest in the world. While Thailand is occasionally in the news for political upheaval, life goes on as normal for most Thais and tourism is unaffected. The cosmopolitan capital, Bangkok, is one of the world’s most exciting cities. It offers international-standard shopping, hotels and western comforts alongside crowded markets, ancient temples and a heaving population of go-getters. The northern region of Thailand is known for cool, dense forests, spectacular trekking, numerous fascinating ethnic tribal groups and the seductive, laid-back city of Chiang Mai, where it’s easy to find yourself relaxing for “just one more day” again and again. The south of Thailand has plenty to offer the visitor, but most head straight for one of the country’s famous islands. With world-class scuba diving, white sand beaches, clear turquoise waters and every kind of hotel from guesthouse to five-star luxury resort, these islands are truly unparalleled. Ride a scooter around the hills of Phuket, get a massage on the beach or sight sharks 20 meters underwater– the choice is yours!
