How did you attract/address your

audience?

I attracted my audience through the representation of the demographic throughout my opening sequence.

Firstly, costume. The items of clothing each character wore were chosen especially in accordance with fashion or was a generalisation with what the audience who are

in the same age gap as the characters might wear

Keira, for example, wore a khaki playsuit. Playsuits are trending in many high street stores in recent months. In accordance with personality, Keira has a boyfriend and is promiscuous and so her playsuit is also slightly revealing in order to impress or feel good. These kinds of desires and choices, audience members Keira’s age

will most likely understand.

Through my vox pops, I learned that the majority of the audience members I interviewed prefer horror films that include mystery and fright over blood and gore. So, with my opening sequence I

tried to keep all the blood induced scenes minimal but still wanted them to have an impact as blood is one of the most recognised

and obvious conventions of horror films, so it was therefore important that I included it so that the audience could identify

what genre my film was.

My audience research using a survey, conveyed that my potential audience majority will be outgoing people who spend a lot of their time socialising and not much time staying in. This inspired the basic plot of my opening

sequence as the characters had returned from a social event (party) and were now enjoying the after party with

a few friends, socialising and fraternising.
