GOOGLE FOR EDUCATORS

Each Wednesday the class will focus on building your Google skills allowing you to become more familiar with what you can do with your Google account. A lot of time will be focused on the Chrome browser, apps and extensions, as well as Google Drive. Instructors will cater the class to your needs instructing on Google items YOU want to learn. If you want to know more about the power of Google and how it can help you in the classroom, workplace or just for your personal enjoyment, this is the class for you. * CPS Staff please bring your chrome books
IPADS FOR EDUCATORS AND EVERYONE
Instructor: Janell Asbury Days: Saturday, September 24– BEGINNERS Saturday, October 1– INTERMEDIATE Time: 9:00 am to 11:00 am Location: PBES Media Lab Number of Sessions: 2 Fee: $10 each or both for $15
In Janell’s class you will discover the capabilities and applications of the iPad both in a classroom and in a home setting. Together you will explore where to start, how to set it up, protecting your privacy, and finding apps. If time allows, you will search iTunes, using apps, photos, banking, shopping and more!! Join Janell for the intermediate class to learn more of what your iPad can do to engage students in the classroom including QR codes, Green Screen work, student portfolios and more. * Bring your IPad if you have one

Whether you are a beginner or a returning student this class is for you. Janice will be available to instruct new students and assist returning students. If you are new to the world of stained glass contact Janice for information on supply ordering and project ideas. Homemade all natural pampering & cleaning products with essential oils is all the rage. Come join Kris as she shares her recipes for bath and body products as well as soaps and detergents. These simple recipes are all natural, using readily available ingredients that are good for your skin and your cleaning needs. Sign up for one class or both and experience the fun of creating personalized products for you, your family and friends.

CERAMIC POTTERY
Instructor: Amy Hofacker Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays November 1—29 NO CLASS THURSDAY NOVEMBER 24 Glazing night—Tuesday, November 29 Time: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Location: SHAC Number of Sessions: 7 Fee: $30 material fee per class $20 instructor fee per class Supplies Needed: Clothes you can get messy in and an old towel.
In this class we will focus on throwing cylinders and work-ing with slabs. You will work with glazes to create beautiful pottery you will be proud of. Other clay techniques will also be explored. If you have never taken a pottery class before and want to see what it is all about, come join the fun. Ex-perienced potters welcome, this class is designed for every-one. Amy is a real pottery enthusiast so if you have questions or concerns please feel free to PM her on Facebook. She will do what she can to accommodate you so that you too will share her enthusiasm for pottery!
BEGINNING PHOTOGRAPHY Instructors: Darrell Brabec Dates: Tuesday, October 4 through November 1 Times: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Number of Sessions: 5 Location: CHS Room A62 Fee: $30 Materials: Your camera(s) and manuals as well as a USB cord. Starting out in photography can be a wonderful time, full of creativity and discovery. Unfortunately it can also be frustrating especially if the moments you see through your lens are not captured in your photographs. Let Darrell walk your through basic camera functions using both film and digital images. He will also provide tips and tricks on how to improve those snapshots.

ACRYLIC PAINTING Instructor: Helen Bair Dates: Tuesday, November 8 & Thursday November 10 Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Location: SHAC Number of Sessions: 2 Fee: $15 material fee per class $15 instructor fee per class Supplies Needed: Clothes you can get messy in and an old towel. Paints, brushes and board are provided with your material fee. Painting with Acrylics is easy and looks similar to oil painting but cleans up easily with water. With Helen’s guidance, you will start with a simple picture and recreate it with acrylics. You will not only learn but actually do everything to create your own art work including blending colors and layering. You will leave with a 16” x 20” acrylic painting. This is a hands-on class so dress appropriately.

SCANDANAVIAN COOKING
Instructor: Joanne Schrupp Dates: Thursdays, November 10, December 1 & 8 Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Location: FBMS Family Consumer Science Kitchen Number of Sessions: 3 Fee: $ 10 each or $25 for all three Whether you are Scandinavian by birth or simply LOVE the deli-cacies sign up for one or all of these sessions and learn how to make these yummy foods. At the end of each class you will also take some home for your family! This year’s Scandinavian cook-ing classes will feature lefse and cookies.
November 10 & December 8: The November 10 and December 8
sessions will be lefse-making sessions. Whether you’re an old-hand or new to this amazing treat, join us for an evening of rolling & flipping lefse rounds. If you have a lefse griddle, rolling pin, turning stick or a pastry cloth, please bring them.
December 1:This will be an evening of making traditional Scan-dinavian Christmas cookies to start your holiday season out right. At least three different cookies will be made.

DUTCH OVEN COOKING Instructor: Jim Hafer Dates: Tuesday, November 15 Times: 6:00 pm to 8:00pm Number of Sessions: 1 Location: CHS Shop and Hospitality Room Fee: $25 which includes ingredients for class Aprons are optional but you must like to cook! Looking for an easy and often inexpensive way to cook for large groups? Designed for students with little or no Dutch oven cooking experience, this class introduces the basic skills required to cook with Dutch ovens. Working in teams, students will learn to cook in Dutch ovens by preparing (and consuming) a wonderful Dutch oven meal (including dessert). Other topics will include cleaning, seasoning as well as the feeding and caring of cast iron and Dutch ovens - as well as a bit of Dutch oven cooking history.

Instructor: Jeannette Barreto Dates: Wednesday, October 12 Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Location: FBMS Family Consumer Science Kitchen Number of Sessions: 1 Fee: $ 20 Tapas are very popular, finger licking good and a rooted tradition all over Spain. This class is a taste-testers dream! Nibble your way through this evening of savory cooking creating authentic Spanish Tapas. Each dish is steeped in tasty temptation so join Jeannette as she walks you through her Spanish heritage on this wonderful food journey. Participants will, cook, laugh, learn a little Spanish and leave with great recipes and full stomach. So grab a friend and join Jeannette for what promises to be a fun evening of Tapas treats.

For the self-motivated and determined person. This early morning swim, in our heated pool, will help get your day started off just right. Work the muscles and joints without the hindrance of gravity. Swim laps, water aerobics, put on the wet vest and jog in the deep end or just float around and enjoy the water. If you don’t have a workout in mind, Tatum can help you get started.

Get a great workout with NO IMPACT. A wet vest keeps you suspended in the deep water freeing you to do a variety of leg and arm movements with the added benefit of water resistance. This class is for everyone, whether you are a serious athlete or someone just embarking on an exercise program. Spend your evenings in the water with one of the two instructors and see how enjoyable a water workout can be.

Increase your skills to take your High School Equivalency Exam with this individualized program. You will study the skills that YOU need in a non-threatening environment. Colstrip Public Schools is not a HiSET testing site. This course is a preparation class only. Ann will help guide you to success in completing the Hi-SET test.

BEGINNING SWIMMING

Ann brings 30+ years of aquatic experience with her to the pool so join her each Monday and Wednesday for a half-hour of instruction and fun. In this class, your child will learn basic water and swimming skills including: floating, breath control, beginning strokes and other water-related skills. Classes are small with personal attention given to each student. Have your child learn how much fun the water can be.
Registration only taken over the phone or in person! Placement in session 1 or 2 determined by the child’s age, and/or swimming skills. Limited Enrollment so don’t delay. Call when your brochure arrives.

HUNTER’S SAFETY Instructor: Pete Peters Dates: Available when you register Fee: No Charge - Funded by Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks This class is essential for future hunters! Before you take your child out on the big hunt, be sure that he or she knows firearm safety. Certified instructors will demonstrate safe handling procedures and allow time for your child to practice under careful supervision. KIDS IN THE KITCHEN-HOLIDAY TREATS

Just in time for your Thanksgiving and Christmas treat making, we will mix and bake up some new favorites. Your family and friends will appreciate the time and effort you spend creating these tasty treats. Let Amy show you a number of delicious recipes that are sure to become family favorites for the holidays! This is a hands-on class so come prepared to cook and sample your delicious creations. (If date and time are a problem for you PM Amy on Face-book. She’ll do what she can to accommodate the class date/time to meet everyone’s needs.)
