The Fairness Campaign's Coordinating Committee, which has grown in 2010to 18 diverse members, proudly appointed The Center for Women and FamiliesGrant Manager Jessica Underwood this month to serve alongside PresbyterianChurch (U.S.A.) Web Production Assistant Keith Brooks as its Co-Coordinator.Tantamount to other nonprots' board of directors, the Fairness Campaign'sCoordinating Committee is a consensus-model governing body that oversees theoperation and direction of the Campaign through monthly meetings and constante-conversation surrounding urgent and important decisions facing our community.Hosting individuals with a wide array of ages and economic backgrounds, theCoordinating Committee is now comprised of 1/3 people of color, 55% women, and several straight allies among its LGBTQ members.
Underwood moves into her new role after joining the CoordinatingCommittee in May of this year . She dove headrst into Campaign leadership by taking over the Fundraising Committeealongside ACLU-KY Program Associate Kate Miller, and was integral in the planning of the Fairness Campaign's secondannual "Fairness Over Louisville" fundraiser in July. In her position as Grants Manager at The Center for Women andFamilies, Underwood currently helps raise over 65% of the organization's $5 million budget. She recently led the effort at TheCenter to provide sensitive services for LGBTQ victims and currently serves as the LGBTQ Committee Chair.
Brooks and Underwood will work directly with Fairness Campaign staff and other Coordinating Committee members
in the coming months to help create a fresh direction for the Campaign and lead it boldly into the new year. You may contactFairness' Co-Coordinators at [email protected] and [email protected].
