Facts• Rainforests once covered 14%
of the earth’s land surface…
• NOW they cover 6% and could be consumed in less than 40 years!
Trees are being destroyed because..
• Land is converted to cattle operations
To have railroad ties
To make furniture
For Firewood
Shingles
For Paper
•Newspaper
•Magazines
• 15 ton machines that gobble up the rainforest with 8 foot cutting disc that rotate 320 times a minute.
• The rainforests would be more valuable alive than cut and burned!
Problem #1• 121 prescription drugs come from plan-
derived sources.
Problem 2
• Losing 137 plant, animal and insect species every single day.
• It is destroying natural habitat.
Problem 3
• Trees can be described as the “Lungs of our Planet” because they recycle carbon dioxide into oxygen.
• More than 20 percent of the world oxygen is produced in the Amazon Rainforest.

• 80% of the developed world’s diet originated in tropical rainforests.

• Massive deforestation brings ugly consequences…

RECYCLE
• Use fewer paper products and recycling the ones you use.

• Write a letter to you governmental representatives to oppose logging in National Forests.
