Bible Declaration

This is my Bible

It is the word of my God

I am what it says I am

I can do what it says that I can do

I will have everything that the Word of God says that I can

have

Today I will hear the Word

It will transform my heart

It will renew my mind

It’s being done by the ever-living,

Always loving, incorruptible

Indestructible, infallible

And inerrant Word of my God

So Word of God, live big in my today

And every day

In Jesus Name

Amen!

Foundation Scripture: Acts 27 STORM WATCH – FIVE THINGS NOT TO DO IN A STORM

1. They rejected Divine counsel.

ACTS 27:9-11 (NLT) We had lost a lot of time. The weather was becoming dangerous for sea travel because it was so late in the fall, and Paul spoke to the ship’s officers about it. 10 “Men,” he said, “I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on—shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.” 11 But the officer in charge of the prisoners listened more to the ship’s captain and the owner than to Paul. DANIEL 2:14 (NKJV) Then with counsel and wisdom Daniel answered Arioch, the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon. PROVERBS 11:14 (NKJV) Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. PROVERBS 13:10 (NKJV) By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.

2. They were dissatisfied with where they were. ACT 27:12 (NLT) And since Fair Havens was an exposed harbor—a poor place to spend the winter—most of the crew wanted to go on to Phoenix, farther up the coast of Crete, and spend the winter there. Phoenix was a good harbor with only a southwest and northwest exposure. ROMANS 8:14 (NKJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. JOHN 16:13 (NKJV) However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

3. They failed to heed God’s Word. ACTS 27:10 (NLT) “Men,” he said, “I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on—shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.” ACTS 27:11 (NIV) But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship. HEBREWS 2:1 (NKJV) Therefore, we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. PROVERBS 4:20 (NLT) My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.

4. They were impatient to get to where they were going. JAMES 1:2-4 (MSG) Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

5. They looked to the circumstances instead of God to guide them. ACTS 27:13-15 (NLT) When a light wind began blowing from the south, the sailors thought they could make it. So they pulled up anchor and sailed close to the shore of Crete. 14 But the weather changed abruptly, and a wind of typhoon strength (called a “northeaster”) burst across the island and blew us out to sea. 15 The sailors couldn’t turn the ship into the wind, so they gave up and let it run before the gale. ISAIAH 42:16 (NKJV) I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.

SIX OBSERVATIONS IN STORM MANAGEMENT 1. Prepare for the storm before you are in it.

HEBREWS 11:7 (NLT) It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.

FIVE STEPS TO TAKE IN MANAGING A STORM a. See your challenge through the lens of Divine Purpose.

JAMES 1:2-4 (NLT) Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

b. Assess all challenge from a divine perspective. I CORINTHIANS 10:13 (NKJV) No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

c. Find in your challenge divine peace. PHILIPPIANS 4:6 (NLT) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

d. Assume the position God has placed you in with resolve. II CHRONICLES 20:17 (NLT) But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the LORD’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you!”

e. Place your family on what by God’s power will sustain them. HEBREWS 1:3 (NLT) The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

2. They shielded themselves against the typhoonic winds.

ACTS 27:16 (NKJV) And running under the shelter of an island called Clauda, we secured the skiff with difficulty.

a. God gives us shelter in the storm.

PROVERBS 4:23 (NLT) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

b. You’ve got protection.

PSALM 34:7 (NKJV) The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. PSALM 41:2 (NKJV) The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. PSALM 91:4 (NKJV) He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. PSALM 125:2 (NKJV) As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever. EXODUS 14:14 (NKJV) The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. GENESIS 15:1 (NKJV) After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

ACTS 27:16b (NKJV) ... we secured the skiff with difficulty. II CORINTHIANS 10:5 (NIV) We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. II CORINTHIANS 10:5 (NLT) We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

3. They strengthened their vessels with helps or cable.

PSALM 28:7 (NLT) The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. PSALM 27:7-9 (NLT) Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me! 8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.” 9 Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation! PSALM 40:17 (NLT) As for me, since I am poor and needy, let the Lord keep me in his thoughts. You are my helper and my savior. O my God, do not delay. EPHESIANS 3:14-21 (NKJV) When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[b] 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. 20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. COLOSSIANS 1:11-12 (NLT) We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking

the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. ISAIAH 40:29-31 (NCV) He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak. 30 Even children become tired and need to rest, and young people trip and fall. 31 But the people who trust the LORD will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired. ISAIAH 41:10 (NLT) Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. PSALM 18:1-3 (NLT) I love you, LORD; you are my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. 3 I called on the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies. PHILIPPIANS 4:13 (NLT) For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

4. They slowed their momentum.

ACTS 27:17 (NLT) Then the sailors bound ropes around the hull of the ship to strengthen it. They were afraid of being driven across to the sandbars of Syrtis off the African coast, so they lowered the sea anchor to slow the ship and were driven before the wind. ACTS 27:17 (NIV) ... so the men hoisted it aboard. Then they passed ropes under the ship itself to hold it together. Because they were afraid they would run aground on the sandbars of Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and let the ship be driven along. EXODUS 14:13 (NLT) But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. NUMBERS 9:8 (NKJV) And Moses said to them, “Stand still, that I may hear what the LORD will command concerning you.”

PSALM 46:10 (NKJV) Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! ISAIAH 30:15-16 (NLT) This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it. 16 You said, ‘No, we will get our help from Egypt. They will give us swift horses for riding into battle.’ But the only swiftness you are going to see is the swiftness of your enemies chasing you! PSALM 37:7 (NKJV) Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

5. They got rid of everything that wasn’t an absolute necessity to their survival.

ACTS 27:18-19 (NKJV) And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship. 19 On the third day we threw the ship’s tackle overboard with our own hands.

ACTS 27:20 (NKJV) Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up. JONAH 4:1-11 (NLT) This change of plans greatly upset Jonah, and he became very angry. 2 So he complained to the LORD about it: “Didn’t I say before I left home that you would do this, LORD? That is why I ran away to Tarshish! I knew that you are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. You are eager to turn back from destroying people. 3 Just kill me now, LORD! I’d rather be dead than alive if what I predicted will not happen.” 4 The LORD replied, “Is it right for you to be angry about this?” 5 Then Jonah went out to the east side of the city and made a shelter to sit under as he waited to see what would happen to the city. 6 And the LORD God arranged for a leafy plant to grow there, and soon it spread its broad leaves over Jonah’s head, shading him from the sun. This eased his discomfort, and Jonah was very grateful for the plant. 7 But God also arranged for a worm! The next morning at dawn the worm ate through the stem of the plant so that it withered away. 8 And as the sun grew hot, God arranged for a scorching east wind to blow on Jonah. The sun beat down on his head until he grew faint and wished to die. “Death is certainly better than living like this!” he exclaimed. 9 Then God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry because the plant died?” “Yes,” Jonah retorted, “even angry enough to die!” 10 Then the LORD said, “You feel sorry about the plant, though you did nothing to put it there. It came quickly and died quickly. 11 But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people

living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouldn’t I feel sorry for such a great city?” ACTS 27:21 (NKJV) But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. EXODUS 34:28 (NKJV) So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the [a]Ten Commandments. Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. .

6. Go through on what you have. ACTS 27:43-44 (NKJV) But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, 44 and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land. Acts 28
