Historical Exhibit of Postcards depicting Hopewell June - August

Come check out this wonderful exhibit which helps celebrate the 100th anniversary of Hopewell. Located in the center aisle of the Hopewell Library, it features postcards depicting historical buildings and street scenes from the first half of Hopewell history, 1915 to 1966. The large framed pictures were donated by Mrs. Rae Blaha in memory of her husband Frank J. Blaha, Jr. Mr. Blaha was a well known local businessman, civic leader and avid big game hunter. These images adorned the walls of his office.

The small framed pictures were donated by Del Williams. Mrs. Williams believes that her husband, Thomas Williams, received them from Gene Forti, former owner of the Anchor Room. Celebrate these snippets from the past and honor the rich history of Hopewell!

1000 Books Before KindergartenThere is no better gift you can give your child than snuggling up and reading aloud to him or her every day. Reading 1,000 books to your baby, toddler, or preschooler may sound daunting, but this program allows you to set your own pace, while giving your child a jumpstart to their education. The only criteria is to complete 1,000 books before the child enters kindergarten. If you read just 1 book a day, you will finish in 3 years… if you read 3 books a day, you can finish in just 1 year!

Stop by any of our locations for more details and to register your child. If you have questions, please call the Youth Services Department at 458 -6329 ext. 1013. Happy Reading!
