SUMMEREXPLORATION

2018June 25 - August 3

WEEK 6 July 30 - August 3 continued Parkour For students entering 3rd – entering 5th grades Instructors: Matthew Smith and Matthew Lang Cost: $360 Maximum: 16 kids

Parkour camp is an active, dynamic summer camp that incorporates fitness, parkour, and acrobatics into one exciting and challenging week of sweat, discipline, determination, and fun. Parkour (also known as Free-Running or Tracing) is the new name for natural human movement through challenging environments or obstacles. Your student will run, jump, vault, climb, balance, leap, roll, tumble, and move in every quadrupedal manner imaginable. Parkour is problem-solving while in motion. Muscles will ache to overcome challenges, yet the pounding heart will deliver more oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the brain than to any working muscle groups; the exhilaration floods the brain with endorphins and serotonin; the brain is now optimized for learning, problem-solving, and creativity. Parkour encourages students to examine their limits (both perceived and achieved), and to assess and understand risk. Camp will include cardiovascular, strength, and agility training as well as the parkour classes taught by an experienced, professional instructor. Parkour Camp teaches students that motion can change emotion; that tenacity yields growth; and that self-awareness enables self-confidence.
