3.4 Operational mode

SolarOcean 500TL PV Grid-connected inverter has a lot of operational mode.

3.4.1 Standby modeThe standby mode refers to the first power-on of the inverter for work after installation, but not yet generating power in connected grid. Under this mode, it continuously detects whether the PV array has enough power to generate in connected grid. When power generation conditions are satisfied, the inverter will change from standby mode into Grid-connected power generation mode.

3.4.2 Grid-connected power generation mode

Brief introduction to grid connected process of the inverter

① The DC input terminal of the inverter is connected with the DC output of the PV array, and AC output terminal of inverter is connected with the grid;② Close the AC and DC circuit breaker, the inverter enters "waiting" status;③ When the DC input voltage exceeds 450V, the inverter prepares to send AC energy to grid;④ The inverter will self-inspect before tie grid to confirm that the current status satisfy all conditions required for grid connected work, then connect with the grid and generate power.

14

Product description

Page 17: Expert for PV Grid-tied Inverters - Samil Power · SP-SO500TL-V2.0-EN SolarOcean PV Grid-tied Inverter SolarOcean 500TL Product Manual TM Samil Power Expert for PV Grid-tied Inverters

The inverter is automatic, and the system will inspect whether the DC input and DC grid satisfy the Grid-connected power generation conditions. When all met, it will enter the power generation mode. It will disconnect with the grid immediately and launch protection program.

Under this mode, inverter will input the DC from PV array into grid. Meanwhile, the inverted power is maximizing the output energy of PV array in the manner of maximum power point tracking (MPPT). Therefore, Grid-connected power generation mode is also called MPPT mode.

Attention! When the ambient temperature is too high, it is also a normal operational mode for the inverter to reduce output power. However, if this phenomenon occurs too often, you need to check the cooling surface of the inverter, or consider installing the inverter at a place of better ventilation. If the fan of the inverter is too dirty, please clean it, and while if the power reduction is caused by the internal electrical default, please turn to professional service.

3.4.3 Fault mode

When faults occur at the PV power generation system, the inverted power will disconnect the AC side contactor immediately, and enter protection program and fault state to protect the system safety. At that moment, the inverter will keep monitor whether the fault is eliminated. If not, the fault status will be kept, and while if so, it will enter Grid-connected power generation mode again.

3.5 Function protection

[Anti-islanding protection]When local grid is cut off due to default or equipment maintenance, SolarOcean 100 / SolarOcean 100TL inverter will cut the connection with the grid physically to protect the operators who work on the grid. The inverter is in full compliance with relevant state standards.

[Lightening protection]Lightening protection module is set inside the inverter, it has the function of lightning over-voltage protection at the DC/AC terminal to avoid lightning strike of the inverter.

[More protections]Inverter provides more protections to ensure safe work under any environment.

The protections includes but not limited to:

● Protection of over-voltage and under voltage ● Protection of over-frequency and under frequency● Protection of over-current and Over-load● Short circuit protection● Prevent reverse discharge protection● Protection of preventing polarity reverse connect● Over-temperature protection● DSP fault protection

7 Routine maintenance7.1 Dust screen change

When faults occur to the inverter, the inverter will automatically disconnect with the grid and send fault warning information. When the grid is cut due to faults or human work, the Grid-connected inverter system can disconnect with the grid in time to avoid islanding effect. After the grid is powered on again, the Grid-connected inverter can start automatically. Usually, the inverter requires no maintenance or calibration, but its dust screen shall be ensured to be free from dust and dirt. If there are a lot of dust and dirt on the dust screen, it shall be changed regularly as shown in Figure 7-1.

The change procedures of dust screen are as follows:Ⅰ. Open the front and back door of the inverter, we will see the dust screen on the back of th door.Ⅱ. Open the dustproof cover from the bottom the front and back dustproof cover.Ⅲ. Remove the old dust screen and install the clean one.Ⅳ. Install the dustproof cover to its original place and fasten it firmly.

Attention! To ensure normal operation of the system, wash the dust screen regularly.
