Sagītarasikā Experiències Musicals presents: “Nila Sangita” An evening of Indian Classical Music and Dance Nila Sangita is a voyage through the ancient and sacred art of North Indian Classical Music and Dance. The ensemble opens the show with the instrumental performances of the bansuri (Indian flute) and the sarod (Indian string instrument), both accompanied by the tabla (Indian percussion). The kathak (Indian classical dance) recital, in which the dancer performs the sacred love stories of Radha and Krishna, brings all the artists together on stage. “Nila  Sangita”  An  evening  of  Indian  Classical  Music  and  Dance  

Nila   Sangita   is   a   voyage   through   the   ancient   and   sacred   art   of   North   Indian  Classical  Music  and  Dance.  The  ensemble  opens  the  show  with  the   instrumental  performances   of   the   bansuri   (Indian   flute)   and   the   sarod   (Indian   string  instrument),   both   accompanied   by   the   tabla   (Indian   percussion).   The   kathak  (Indian   classical   dance)   recital,   in   which   the   dancer   performs   the   sacred   love  stories  of  Radha  and  Krishna,  brings  all  the  artists  together  on  stage.

NURIA CABO – Kathak dancer

Nuria  Cabo   has  been   trained   in  western  dances   since   childhood   (jazz   and   contemporary).   In  2010  she  discovered  kathak  and  moved  to  India  to  be  trained  in  this  beautiful  dance,  following  the   traditional   Guru   Shishya   Parampara   system   under   the   guidance   of   Pandit   Om   Prakash  Mishra,  nephew  and  main  disciple  of  the  living  legend  of  kathak  dance  Pandit  Birju  Maharaj.  

She  is  currently  achieving  her  Bachelor  in  Kathak  Dance  at  Prayag  Sangeet  Samiti,  Allahabad.  

This  training   in  different  styles  makes  her  a  versatile  dancer  bringing  East  and  West,  tradition  and  modernity  on  stage.    

She   has   performed   in   Spain   (Cadiz,   Sevilla,   Barcelona)   and   India   (in   the   prestigious   Banaras  Hindu  University,  Varanasi).

AMIT MISHRA – Tabla player

Amit  Mishra  is   an   exponent   of   the   renowned  Banaras  Gharana  of   Indian   Classical   Music.   He  was  born  in  the  city  of  Varanasi,  famed  not  only  for  its  religious  significance  but  also  for  its  rich  heritage  of  music.  He  is  one  of  the  current  scions  of  this  ancient  tradition  and  legacy.  

Amit  was   born   into   the   famous   Mishra   family   of  Banaras  known   for   its  numerous  generations  of  musicians  including  sarangi  players,  tabla  players  and  vocalists.    

Amit   Mishra   started   learning   tabla   under   the   guidance   of   his   father,  Pt.   Kishor   Kumar  Mishra  and  uncle  Pt.   Pramod   Kumar  Mishra.  He   received  advanced   instruction   from  his  Guru,  the  internationally  acclaimed  late  Pt.  Sharda  Sahai  (a  direct  descendant  of  Pt.  Ram  Sahai  ji,  the  founder   of   the  Banaras  Gharana  style   of   playing   the   tabla)   in   the   traditional  guru-­‐shishya  parampara  of  India.  

Amit   Mishra  has   the   distinction   of   topping   the   instrumental   music   division   of   M.Mus  examinations  of  the  Banaras  Hindu  University  (B.H.U.)    

Amit  gave   his   first   performance   as   a   tabla   soloist,   at   the   age   of   8   in   a   concert   organized   by  UNICEF.  Thereafter   he   performed   extensively   in  Varanasi  and  many  other   Indian  cities  including:  Delhi,   Mumbai,  Lucknow,   Kolkata,   Bangalore,   Jaipur,   Jodhpur,  Ahmedabad,  Chennai,  Hyderabad,  Agra,  Patna,  Jalandhar,  Bhopal  and  Dharwad,  to  name  a  few.

He   has   accompanied   some   of   the   finest   artists   of   India   like:   Vidushi   Girija   Devi,   Pt.   Birju  Maharaj,  Smt  Sitara  Devi,  Vidushi  Sonal  Mansingh,  Pt.  Ajay  Pohankar  and  Pt.  Channu  Lal  Mishra,  to  name  a  few.  

Amit   has   also   toured   extensively   in   France   (2007)   and   Japan   (2007,   2009,   2013),   Belgium,  Germany,  Italy,Hungary,  Switzerland,  Spain,  UK,  Sri  Lanka,  Peru,  Argentina,    Thailand,  Nepal  for  concerts,  workshops  and  collaboration  with  musicians  of  these  countries.

JORDI  PRATS  –  Sarod  player  

 

 

 

Jordi   Prats   plays   sarod   since   2005   under   the   expert   guidance   of   his   Guru   Pt.   Shivdas  Chakraborthy,  a  renowned  exponent  of  the  prestigious  Senia  Mehiar  Gharana  of  Indian  classical  music.  

He  has  performed  in  India,  as  well  as  in  several  European  and  African  countries,  together  with  famous   Indian  musicians   like  Arup  Sen  Gupta,   Indradeep  Gosh,  Debashish  Battacharjee,  Einav  Baram,  Gauri  Guha,  etc.

JACOPO  PACIFICO  –  Indian  flute  player  

 

 

 

Jacopo   Pacifico   is   an   Italian   renowned   instrumentalist.   After   his   musical   studies   at   several  Music   Institutes   and  Conservatories  of  Music   –   among   the  others   the  "National  Academy  of  Jazz"  in  Siena  (vocal),  the  "Conservatory  of  Music  A.  Boito"  of  Parma  (vocal  and  piano)  and  the  "Conservatory  of  Music  A.  Peri"  of  Reggio  Emilia  (flute)  -­‐  he  meets  Indian  music  enrolling  in  the  course  of  bansuri  (Indian  flute)  at  the  "Conservatory  of  Music  A.  Pedrollo"  of  Vicenza,  where  he  graduates  with  full  marks  and  honours  in  'Non-­‐european  Musical  Traditions'  -­‐  Indian  course  of  Studies.  

In   2011,   Jacopo   Pacifico   moves   to   India   where   he   attends   the   Bachelor   of   bansuri   at   the  "Banaras  Hindu  University  -­‐  Faculty  of  Performing  Arts"  of  Varanasi.  He  is  a  first  class  student  and  the  first  foreigner  ever  to  enroll  for  such  a  degree  at  the  B.H.U.,  one  of  the  most  renowned  Universities   in   the   Indian   ranking.   In   2014,   he   joins   the   Master   in   'Musicology   and   Musical  Heritage'  at  the  "University  of  Bologna  -­‐  School  of  Arts,  Humanities  and  Cultural  heritage".    

At   summers   every   year,   Jacopo   Pacifico   comes   back   to   Europe   where   he   gives   lectures   on  Indian  music  and  he  plays  Indian  flute,  both  in  solo  concerts  and  as  an  accompanist  for  Indian  dance:  Rome,  Venice,  Pesaro,  Turin,  Genoa,  Verona,  Assisi,  Modena,  Zurich,  Zug,  Basel  etc.
