RKY MTN WALLS Art Festival was born in the Summer of 2018, after the So-Gnar Creative Division and the Town of Granby partnered together to create the first community mural in Grand County that also happened to be the largest!

After seeing the community come together and support this public art initiative, the seeds of RKY MTN WALLS were planted.

Drawing from the beauty of the Colorado mountains, our unique wildlife and the state’s colorful art scene, RKY MTN WALLS was the first ever street art festival in Grand County with the goal of bringing the thriving local and national art scene to the mountains. Through the creation of permanent large-scale public murals, we provided a platform for Colorado's diverse art scene to contribute to the county’s cultural legacy for years to come.

Our aim was to create art that is inspirational, vibrant, inclusive and would display positive imagery. This mural festival was the first of its kind in Grand County, it helped position Grand County to have a reputation for progressive art and helped bring the thriving Denver art scene to the mountains. We wanted the focus to be on artist collaboration where artists with similar styles shared the same wall and created art that was cohesive.

We took inspiration from different arts festivals from around the world such as CRUSH, Art Basel and Vision Art Festival. The staff was on site at all times to oversee all projects and activations, along with documenting each project in its entirety. We utilized the latest products in weather-proofing, UV and anti-graffiti clear coating to seal and protect these artworks for decades to come.

We are an inclusive event intended for all classes, cultures, genders, ages, abilities, and beyond. Our artist roster is an effort to reflect the varied histories present in Denver, Grand County, the country and our world.
