SmartPlant® 3D is a forward-looking product that is changing the way plants are engineered and designed. It breaks through the constraints imposed by traditional plant modelling software and design technology. Rather than sim-ply focusing on achieving design, SmartPlant® 3D effectively enables optimised design, increasing productivity and shortening project schedules. An overview about why Intergraph developed SmartPlant® 3D, and an overview over the high-level business benefits.

Before we start using SmartPlant® 3D some engineering will be done using the SmartPlant® Schematic tools. Data from the P&ID will be compared and correlated in the 3D model.

- Dimensional data from control valves in the SmartPlant® Instrumentation database will be checked and used in the 3D model. - Electrical Cables created in SmartPlant® Electrical will be used for cable routing in the 3D model to be able to get exact cable lengths.

A detailed demonstration of SmartPlant® 3D. All disciplines within the 3D environment will be shown including: civils, equipment, structural, hangers & supports, HVAC, electrical, piping and instrumentation. Through the SmartPlant® Enterprise interfaces integration will be shown with SmartPlant® P&ID, Electrical, Instrumentation and Materials.

- Management of change will be demonstrated over the different disciplines. - Drawing generation like layouts and isometric drawings will be demonstrated- Work share will be shown to demonstrate global concurrent engineering

SmartPlant® Layout is Intergraph’s solution for preliminary 3D plant layout, including proposal development, early design estimates, and plant layout optimization. SmartPlant® Layout based on Intergraph’s next-generation 3D plant software, SmartPlant® 3D, is a standalone product extending the SmartPlant® Enterprise suite through the addition of tools for automatic pipe routing, layout case management, and cost estimation. Before detailed 3D design is done, a conceptual 3D model will be made, using SmartPlant® Layout.

Intergraph SmartPlant® Reference Data provides material libraries at the corporate and project levels and enables better standardization and change management. SmartPlant® Reference Data is the software tool for maintain-ing catalog and pipe specifications for SmartPlant® 3D, SmartPlant® Materials, and other SmartPlant® Enterprise solutions. The Standard Database incorporates a comprehensive catallog of industry-standard material parts, organized and described for “out-of-the-box” usage by owner operators and EPC companies. The content is pre-configured to enable catalog and piping specification interfaces to intelligent 3D applications.
