REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

ISLAND PACIFIC ACADEMY (IPA) is pleased to offer a variety of classes/programs for our Summer Enrichment 2020 Program.

Class size is limited to ensure each child will maximize his/her summer experience at IPA.

Registration will begin on February 10. Student must be 5 years of age by the first day of the summer program in order to attend.

We look forward to seeing your child at IPA this summer!

Tuition:

Tuition must be paid online at the time of registration. Registration must be done online. Walk-in registrations will not be accepted. We do not offer sibling discounts.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy:

100% refund up to May 1, 2020. After that date, no

refunds will be given.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

IPA is unable at this time in the Summer Enrichment Program to make accommodations for ESL/ELL students.

Out of State and Home school Applicants:

All Non-Hawaiʻ i residents are required to list a local address and a local phone number on registration forms.

All applicants residing outside the state of Hawaiʻ i must submit a F14 Health Form completed by a U. S. licensed physician. A student’s registration will not be processed until health form is received. Please submit form to:

International Students:

All international students need to present a passport, visa, or port of entry card to the Summer Enrichment Office by the first day of Summer Enrichment.

International students must submit a physical examination and tuberculosis clearance performed within 12 months prior to the starting date of Summer Enrichment by a U.S. licensed physician. This must also include a complete listing of immunizations.

The registration process will not be complete until this form is received. Children will be placed on a wait-list until all forms are received.

READY, SET, FUN!SUMMER RECREATIONAL PROGRAM

This program provides for age appropriate activities indoors and outdoors for students to learn leadership skills, team building and cooperation. This program is designed to keep children active and engaged in different activities such as games, crafts, and more. This program can be utilized full time or part time as a complement to the other courses offered. Part time students arriving before noon will have lunchtime. The program also allows families the flexibility to choose which weeks they need. Weeks may be added later if space is available. Students must bring their own lunch, water bottle and afternoon snack. Students must be 5 years of age on or before June 8, 2020 unless enrolled in Kindergarten at IPA. Theme weeks are listed below.

AAAND ACTION! THEATER WORKSHOP

This fast-paced musical theater camp takes students through daily fun activities and engaging rehearsals as students prepare for their production of Lion King Jr. Working with Mrs. Dul, our Secondary theater arts teacher, children will learn vocal technique, basic dance, vocabulary, and storytelling. Emphasis placed on building a strong ensemble who support each other on and off stage. Through the craft of theater students build life skills such as creative thinking, problem solving, empathy, and self confidence.

Ready, Set, Kindergarten

Our kindergarten program is self-contained and gives students room to grow in a cooperative learning environment. Students will engage in beginning reading, early writing and math development activities.

Children may sign up for both sessions, as different material will be covered.

Children who are not enrolled at IPA must be 5 years of age by June 8 in order to attend our program.

You’re a First Grader Now

This program is designed to help students’ transition from Kindergarten into the First Grade. Students will work at developing writing, math, and reading strategies. Emphasis placed on working independently, following directions, functioning in group activities and getting along with classmates.

Entering Grades 2-3

The morning is divided into two separate instructional times focused on both language arts and math with a short recess between them. Curriculum will integrate reading, writing and math. Each student is viewed as an individual member of the community of learners and the teacher is aware that each student progresses at a different rate and grade level.

Entering Grades 4-5

Students will strengthen their skills in language arts, math, and social studies as we apply our learnings every day life and the place and culture that surrounds us, our Hawaiʻ i. Students will develop reading and writing skills, including comprehension, summarizing, making connections, drawing conclusions, and identifying problems and solutions. Students will also develop math skills, including multiplication, division, and applying strategies for problem solving. Creative Art/Music Exploration

In Creative Art students will express their creativity, learn art appreciation, and get hands-on experience producing age appropriate art and crafts. Supply fee included. In Music Exploration, students will explore music with xylophones, rhythm instruments, boom whackers, music theory, and interactive music games.

STEM Stars

Does your child like science, technology, engineering, and math? Hands-on creations with building, discovering, designing, and applied science! Kids will transform an everyday world problem, into a project they develop and design! We will work with simple apps, LEGOs, building materials, etc.

Underwater Explorer

Have you ever wondered about organisms in the ocean? Or wanted to know more about our sea life around us here in Hawaiʻi? This course takes you hands-on with a discovery learning approach. We will be making our own aquaria, learning about Hawaiʻi’s fish and water, dissecting sea creatures, and much more!

MIDDLE SCHOOL OPTIONS

Math Foundations

This course is designed to strengthen student’s foundation for pre-algebra and algebra. Relationships of the four basic operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division will be reviewed, with further emphasis on fractions, decimals, place value and percents. Differentiated learning for students entering grades 6-8.

Creative Writing

This course will focus on the techniques of writing with an emphasis on the development of the author’s voice. Using literature, prose and poetry ranging from the classics to popular fiction, the class will discuss the models for the element of literature and examine literary devices to emulate in their own writing.

Coding and Design

Treat your student to a fun and creative summer in game-based education and an (educational) escape room! In this class, students will use three of the most progressive and robust educational programs used in schools today: Minecraft Education Edition, Code Combat, and BreakoutEDU. Students will get to explore worlds, write code, design solutions, and crate life-long experiences in this summer program. Each class will utilize all three educational programs with each week focusing on a design theme. Students will leave the program with skills and knowledge in Javascript, game design, and teamwork.
