It was founded in 2000 in the University park as a student movement, fighting for democracy and freedom in Serbia. After the democratic changes happened in Serbia, from 2001 Exit takes place each July at a beautiful and magical fortress in Novi Sad, located on the right bank of the river Danube, that offers the kind of virtually priceless views of Novi Sad. The location is important for the festivals atmosphere. It also offers superb acoustics, allowing different events to take place one next to another at the same time, without any sound interference.From a modest event with a few bands, Exit has kept growing into a true music attraction over the years, with performances of leading artists in the music world, and one year it had more than 600 performers. Most popular artists which performed on Exit are The Prodigy, Moby, Jamiroquai, Snoop Dogg, Faith No More, Duran Duran, Skrillex, David Guetta, Afrojack, Avicii, Guns NRoses, Billy Idol, New Order, Carl Cox, Pet Shop Boys, The White Stripes and many others.The fortress hosts over 25 stages, the most popular venues being the Dance Arena and Main Stage. Its estimated that on any given night of the festival, 90 percent of visitors are gathered in these 2 areas.Main Stage of the Exit festival is situated at the very heart of Petrovaradin Fortress, with its capacity of over 35,000 people. Every year the Main Stage welcomes renowned stars and artists from all music genres. Along with the most popular performers, it also features the best electronic acts in the "After 2 AM" sessions, which have become a trademark of the festival, allowing the party to continue until dawn. The Dance Arena is the second largest Exit festival stage, and can host over 25,000 people. The show on the Dance Arena starts in the evening, and plays all night long, until dawn.Exit is especially proud of its camp. The best party at Exit Village turns into a several day mini festival in its own right. An incredible atmosphere, non-stop party, enjoying the nature, concerts, all these make a special part of Exit experience. Apart from great entertainment, Exit Village offers workshops, social issues education from areas such as democracy, tolerance, multiculturalism and environment protection. Most of the camp visitors state that Exit experience is not fill if you dont stay in the Exit camp.Normal ticket price is around 40-100 euros, depending on time when it is bought. Price of ticket for camp villadge is around 20-30 euros. There are discounts for students and groups. Today, Exit have the award for the Best Major European Festival!
