EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT AND INDUSTRY LINKAGES UNIT (EDIL) 2 nd & 3 rd AUGUST 2021 INTERMEDIATE LEVEL TO STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING (SEM) FOR SURVEY RESEARCH USING SMARTPLS 3.0: A HANDS- ON APPROACH Registration Fee: RM250.00/person Focus and Features: This workshop introduces participants to the intermediate level of state-of-the-art of Partial Lease Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) using the SmartPLS 3 software. PLS- SEM is a family of statistical models that seek to explain the relationships between multiple variables, which is the most popular analysis software at the moment. The goal of PLS-SEM is the explanation of variances (prediction-oriented character of the methodology) rather than explaining covariances (theory testing via Covariance-Based SEM). The application of the PLS-SEM method is of particular interest if the premises of covariance-based SEM are violated and the assumed relations of cause-and-effect are not sufficiently explored. Participants will be able to have some recap on basic issues in PLS-SEM, explore in depth regarding prediction, Consistent PLS, Mediation Effect Analysis and grab the opportunity to discuss or make an inquiry to the speaker about any PLS-SEM related questions regarding their own research models. EQUATION MODELING (SEM) FOR SURVEY RESEARCH USING SMARTPLS 3.0: A HANDS-

ON APPROACH Registration Fee: RM250.00/person

Focus and Features:

This workshop introduces participants to the intermediate level of state-of-the-art of Partial

Lease Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) using the SmartPLS 3 software. PLS-

SEM is a family of statistical models that seek to explain the relationships between multiple

variables, which is the most popular analysis software at the moment. The goal of PLS-SEM is

the explanation of variances (prediction-oriented character of the methodology) rather than

explaining covariances (theory testing via Covariance-Based SEM). The application of the

PLS-SEM method is of particular interest if the premises of covariance-based SEM are

violated and the assumed relations of cause-and-effect are not sufficiently explored.

Participants will be able to have some recap on basic issues in PLS-SEM, explore in depth

regarding prediction, Consistent PLS, Mediation Effect Analysis and grab the opportunity to

discuss or make an inquiry to the speaker about any PLS-SEM related questions regarding

their own research models.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

He conducts courses and workshops in the area of Research Methodology and BusinessStatistics in few universities, colleges and bodies such as Scholar Zone and SarawakResearch Society (SRS) in Malaysia. From all those trainings, he is currently a qualifiedtrainer under Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) in Malaysia.

He is proficient in several advanced statistical tools, such as SPSS, JASP, STATA, RaschModel, AMOS, EQS, SmartPLS, WarpPLS, ADANCO, XLSTAT, and R Studio. With theresearch knowledge, he is currently a visiting scholar and invited research trainer forseveral international universities, namely, Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg(Germany), National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan), National Kaohsiung University ofHospitality and Tourism (Taiwan), Ming Chuan University (Taiwan), Universitas IslamBandung (Indonesia), Padjadjaran University (Indonesia), and Atma Jaya CatholicUniversity (Indonesia).

Additionally, he has also been appointed as an external consultant from companies inMalaysia and Indonesia, namely, Brilliant Inspiration Academy Sdn. Bhd. from Sarawak inMalaysia as well as Research Synergy Foundation from Indonesia.

Some of his publications are in British Food Journal, Quality and Quantity, InternetResearch, Information Systems Management, International Journal of Human-ComputerInteraction, Tourism Management, International Journal of Hospitality and ContemporaryManagement, International Journal Strategy Property Management, Social IndicatorResearch, Journal of Management Development and etc. He also co-authored two bookson the application of PLS-SEM.

As a committed trainer and researcher with over eight years of teaching and researching experiences, Dr Jacky Cheah Jun Hwa has proven his ability to provide a motivational environment for undergraduate and postgraduate students to learn and grow in Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is currently appointed as an external member of Relationship Marketing for Impact cluster at Griffith University in Australia, Scientific Board Members for Research Synergy Foundation (RSF) in Indonesia, and Adjunct Lecturer under Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, UCSI University.
