Photo of the Week - We are proud to open our newest building the ‘Chris Tudor Centre’...
Dear Parents,
Over the past week, there have been discussions amongst staff and students regarding the issue of domestic violence raised by Rosie Batty during her visit last week. I personally found her message very touching and it had a similar effect on many in the audience that day.
The College is very keen to follow these discus-sions with further information about where to go for help or assistance if anyone should find themselves in a situation. Our Wellbeing staff are available if you have any questions.
On Wednesday, we celebrated the 2016 Sports Assembly and recognised the sporting achieve-ments of our students. Congratulations to every-one who received an award, but in particular to those students who went outside their comfort zone during the year and got out on the playing fields or in the pool and had a go!
Congratulations also to Old Saint, Ryan Gaskon (Rock Climbing) and current student, Jacob Moore (Table Tennis) who are our newest inductees onto the Sports Wall of Fame due to them excelling in their respective sports. A great achievement from these young men and I hope we induct some female athletes in coming years.
On Wednesday night my family and I went to see the Junior Play – what a talented young group of people! Congratulations to everyone involved, I look forward to future performances with these young actors.
Yours Sincerely,
Roger HerbertPrincipal

God’s Song
Wishing to encourage her young son’s progress on the piano, a mother took her boy to a Paderewski concert. After they were seated, the mother spotted a friend in the audience and walked down the aisle to greet her. Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little boy rose and eventually ex-plored his way through a door marked “NO ADMITTANCE.”When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that the child was missing.
Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the im-pressive Steinway on stage. In horror, the mother saw her little boy was sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” At that moment, the great piano master made his en-trance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy’s ear, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.”
Then, leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part. Soon, his right arm reached around to the other side of the child and he added a running obli-gato. Together, the old master and the young novice transformed a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The audience was so mesmerized that they couldn’t recall what else the great master played - only the classic “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”
That’s the way it is with God. What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren’t exactly graceful flowing music. However, with the hand of the Master, our life’s work truly can be beautiful. Next time you set out to accom-plish great feats, listen carefully. You can hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.”
Feel His loving arms around you. Know that His strong hands are there helping you turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces. God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called, and He’ll al-ways be there to love and guide you on to great thin

Year 9 Outdoor Education thanks to P&FADuring Week 3, Miss Crowe's Year 9 Outdoor Education class braved the sweltering heat to have some fun on the new mountain bikes, kindly donated by the Parents’ and Friends’ Association.
The class departed from St Philip's just before lunch and rode out to the Telegraph Station along the concrete path. From the Telegraph Station we crossed the Todd River and then hit the trails, which we followed back to school. Everyone got very hot but agreed it was a fantastic outing. We are looking forward to getting out there again, in the very near future. Thank you Parents’ and Friends’ for such an amazing addition to the Outdoor Education resource.

nvironmental Warrior continued...E G irls’ Boarding News
Although last week was Exeat weekend there was still one very significant event to celebrate.
When our new Principal arrived he quite rightly commented that the boarders dining room needed brightening up. He was so right. The mural we had painted on the end wall many years ago had been painted over when the place had been redecorated a couple of years previously.
After a lot of hard work and many hours in the Art room over the last 2 or 3 months the boarders have finally finished all the pieces of art that will make up our new dining room mural.
On Wednesday after school a number of the senior girls, together with Jess and Kathleen from the Art department and Graham who runs the maintenance department put the 52 pieces of art together, laid them out in the dining room and agreed exactly how they are going to be put up.
There were a couple of weeks at the start of term when I didn’t think we were going to meet our target of unveiling it at the Boarders’ Christmas function on Friday 25 November, but the girls really got behind it over the last week and weekend and painted and painted. There are some stunning pieces of work. Twenty girls have contributed to the work, together with four of the boys, and there will be a plaque underneath to show whose work it is.
Also worth noting this weekend was Nikita’s modelling debut at the Star of Alice where she joined forces with Shyann, now a vet-
eran of three such events. Well done to them both.
It was also great to see Megan, Kiara and Zoe enjoying training with one of the Town U16 basketball teams on Friday and hope-fully we will soon be able to find them teams to play in for the rest of the season.
