Everest Base Camp via Salpa Pass Rescheduled for April 2021. Across the northern borders of Nepal stretches the mighty Himalaya. Here are the world's biggest mountains, the upper watershed for some of the mightiest rivers, and home to a diverse range of cultures. The most well known area is the “Khumbu”, home to Mt Everest and the Sherpa people living within it's shadow. Our trek dispenses with the convention of flying into Lukla and doing a short trek to Base Camp. Instead we follow a classic and little used route from the east that the famous explorer Tillman used to reach Everest, enabling you to acclimatise well & experience some of the most spectacular views of the Himalaya. You will be able to see four of the worlds top 6 peaks all of them over 8000mt, including Mts Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu and Lhotse. The 4 week trip starts in Kathmandu, the city of temples. We have a full day available for sightseeing and shopping before we fly to Tumlingtar in Eastern Nepal. The 25 day trek will traverse the cultural foothills and scenic passes to the west for just over a week until we reach Lukla on the main route to Everest. Then we follow the Dudh Kosi River valley ascending to the colourful Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar (3440mt) which sits on an ancient trade route to Tibet. This lodge based trek is designed to take in a broad cross section of the region's great culture & scenery. From Namche we aim first for the magnificent Thyangboche Monastery, famous for its painted murals & the commanding views of Mt AmaDablam, regarded as one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. We will do several side trips when further up the valley to helpacclimatise & get away from the main trail, we can go to; AmaDablam base camp, Island Peak base camp & visit some of the highlakes in the area.

Our best opportunity for grand views of Mt Everest is when we visitthe stony hill of Kala Patar. From Everest BC you can't see thesummit, instead you get a great close up of the seemingly impenetrableKhumbu Ice-fall, & observe the life of climbing groups preparing for the top of the world.

The trek traverses a wide range of Himalayan environments, you will be walking through forests of rhododendron, pine & alpine meadows. As it's spring time you should see some wonderful wild flowers including daphne, primula, rhododendron, irises & perhaps some wild orchids. The fauna of the region include the wild Himalayan Thar, plus there are the numerous yaks, mules and tough little Tibetan ponies.

No camping is involved, all accommodation is in trekking lodges. Particular attention will be paid to food hygiene on the trek. You need only carry a light daypack each day, your main baggage is carriedfor you.

This trek will also have a optional daily program suitable for trail runners &will cover parts of the Great Himalayan Trail (GHT) for those looking for abigger challenge. Trekkers need not worry, you can take your time and walk.

On our return to Kathmandu from Lukla we have two nights at our centrallylocated Hotel to wine, dine, shop and wind down from the heady heights ofMt Everest.

Mick & Jenny took a groups to EBC in 2011 & in 2013. We shall again be accompanying the trek as your escorts along with a friendly Nepali crew.

More detailed information including the itinerary & pricing options are available on request.

Kind Regards
