Evaluation Unit 4 Overall, I am really happy with the work that I produced for my unit four project and I feel this is the project that I am most pleased with out of all of the four units that I have completed this year. I feel I have developed my work and have now established a recognisable mature style. Though I did encounter a few problems along the way, looking back at my completed project shows my retained interest in the subject and my more established attitude towards experimenting with my work to make it better. In comparison to the other three units that I completed in my AS year and the first half of A2, I think this project displays accurately the skills I have learned just my course as well the visual development of my photos overall – I now think about composition, lighting and the pose/ expression of the model more. When choosing this topic I thought carefully about the options that I had and what would be best suited to me and allow me to explore without getting bored or losing interest. I think ‘Representation of the Human Figure’ was perfect for me as I wanted to be able to pick a project that was broad and also allow me to expand upon and incorporating elements of what I had began to touch on in my unit 3 makeup/beauty project, which I enjoyed. I am happy with almost all of the shoots that I have done in this project, and I think my work looks more professional when compared to my other projects. Evaluation Unit 4

Overall, I am really happy with the work that I produced for my unit four project and I feel this is the project that I am most pleased with out of all of the four units that I have completed this year.

I think I have produced some really striking shots that are have made my final portfolio visually stimulating for the viewer.

This photo is one of my favourites from my portfolio. I really enjoyed creating the character and representing the human figure through the character of the Avatar. I think the cropping and composition of the photo make it striking to look at and the connection that the subject has with the camera really draws the viewer to look at it – also, this is helped with the emphasis on the eyes and the way they have been exaggerated. The overall execution of the piece looks professional and well thought out and having the same photo repeated but with different levels of saturation has ensured a really effective finish.

During the project I was continuingly thinking of news ideas I could visually represent the human figure in a photo that was innovative and unique. Another photo that I was particularly proud of was this one, where I looked a putting the insides of the body on the outside. This photo has a very clinical look about it and this is different to anything that I have produced before. A lot of my work this unit had a more fun, light-hearted feel to it but I think this photo has heavier emotion in it. I like the contrast in colour and the connection that the subject has with the camera – this is something that I really wanted to work on in this unit and I think I have done well in achieving it.

Unit four is the unit where there is a fifteen hour exam, as opposed to the five hour exam that I did in unit two of my AS year. I completed four photo shoots for the exam and I am really happy with

how they all turned out. My favourite one was probably where I looked at animals and represented the human figure through a fawn/doe. I thought I would find the exam stressful in terms of organising all the shoots but they ran smoothly and I think I was well organised with my time as well. I liked being able to shoot so many different things over a short amount of time and I found that by doing this I was becoming more and more inspired. I think this shows my love for the subject and how I thrive when given the opportunity with a topic like this.

Overall, I am really happy with the project and I think it has inspired me to carry on both photography and makeup after college. I think this unit of work is the one I am most proud of and I feel that I really pushed myself to get the best possible final pieces. I also think I developed a more mature attitude toward experimenting and trying out new things with my work so that in the long term I can better the standard of my work and establish more of my own style.
