European Commission H2020 Funding OpportunityMarie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships
UL Call for Expressions of InterestDeadlines:
30th May 2018 - apply to UL12th September 2018 – apply to EU
The University of Limerick (UL), one of Ireland’s five-star universities, is currently seeking expressions of interest from ambitious postdoctoral researchers in science and engineering to participate in fellowship applications to Marie Sklodowska-Curie, hosted by UL.
An internationally focussed university with over 13,000 students and 1,426 staff, UL has been successful in attracting internationally competitive research awards (including 2 European Research Council (ERC) grants and several of Marie Curie International Training Networks (ITNs) and COFUND networks. Research awards at the University have grown from €20m in 2008 to €52m in 2015.
The Bernal Institute is an €86 million science and engineering research institute with over 260 researchers in advanced materials, manufacturing and process engineering and fluid dynamics. Bernal is a state-of-the art laboratory facility which, together with existing facilities, provides over 20,000 m2 of laboratory and office space for researchers in science and engineering. As part of the Bernal Project, new professorial appointments in science and engineering have been made (7 to date, with 3 additional posts planned), each of whom is building teams of world-leading scientists and engineers at UL.
We welcome expressions of interest by postdoctoral researchers of any nationality, to apply jointly with a UL host mentor (see below) in the following research areas:
Materials Science & Technology (including materials analysis): specifically expertise in the following fields: Composite Materials, Pharmaceutical and other single phase Materials, Bio(medical) Materials and Materials in Energy & Environment.
Process Engineering ‐ processing materials and their building blocks, with specific expertise in Fluids Processing, Solids Processing and Integrated Process Development.
The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) is a prestigious European funding scheme within the broader Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) that supports
mobility, career development and training within and beyond Europe and offers 12-24 months highly competitive salary and research funds. Other fellowship opportunities open this year include those on this link
Eligibility criteria at a glance: Experienced researchers: Researchers in possession of a doctoral degree or with at
least four years of full-time equivalent research experience Mobility rule: At the time of the deadline, the researchers must not have worked or
resided in Ireland for more than 12 months within the past 3 years, some exceptions apply
Funding for researchers: A typical fellowship budget ~ €85,000 p.a.
This scheme requires co-application with an academic host. The following academic members of the Bernal Institute together with their specific research areas are listed in the table below:
