CEA Saclay thermal tests status
• Unirradiated TGPAP - DETD and Cyanate Ester insulation thermal conductivity and Kapitza resistance measurement in HeII condition have been finished. To continue the work the irradiated samples have to be provided by PWR
• Development of the measurement rig for thermal conductivity and heat capacity in 4-300K temperature range is in the last testing phase where a known aluminum alloy is tested
15
CEA Saclay thermal modeling status
• Steady-state calculations and Quench simulations with the "conduction" model are finished
• Development of a simplified He II two-fluid model for the thermal calculation of the magnet. The results will be presented at The CHATS workshop in CERN next week
• Additional Deliverable 7.2.3 (M30): “Superfluid helium transport model for the thermal design of the high field Fresca 2 magnet” is foreseen
16
Insulation test sample production at RAL
• RAL mix 71, RAL Mix 237 and Cyanate ester thermal and electrical laminates are produced and distributed to PWR and CEA Saclay
• Mechanical samples will be cut out from 0.5mm laminate to the 6 mm width Tensile Test specimens. Availability of up to 1kN Tensile Test facility at PWR Mech. Dep. is investigated
• LARP insulation laminates are not produced yet – all components are bought, the production can start on request
