Combination Pliers
Pliers are a hand toolused to hold objectsfirmly, for bending, orphysical compression.
Generally, pliers consist ofa pair ofmetalfirst-class levers joined ata fulcrum positionedcloser to one end of the
levers, creating shortjawson one side of thefulcrum, and longerhandles on the other side.

Combination Pliers
This arrangement createsa mechanical advantage, allowing the force of thehand's grip to be amplified
and focused on an objectwith precision. The jawscan also be used tomanipulate objects toosmall or unwieldy to be
manipulated with thefingers.

Screwdrivers
screwdriver is a tool fordriving screws androtating othermachine elements with
the mating drive system.
The screwdriver is madeup of a head or tip, whichengages with a screw, amechanism to apply
torque by rotating the tip,and some way to positionand support thescrewdriver.

A typical hand screwdriver comprises an
approximately cylindrical handle of a size andshape to be held by a human hand, and an axial
shaft fixed to the handle, the tip of which is shapedto fit a particular type of screw.
The handle and shaft allow the screwdriver to be
positioned and supported and, when rotated, to
apply torque. Screwdrivers are made in a variety ofshapes, and the tip can be rotated manually or by
an electric motor or other motor.

A screw has a headwith a contour suchthat an appropriate
screwdriver tip can beengaged in it in such away that the applicationof sufficient torque tothe screwdriver willcause the screw torotate.

Drive type screwdriver
Screwdrivers come in a large variety ofsizes to match those of screws, from tinyjeweler's screwdrivers up.
If a screwdriver that is not the right sizeand type for the screw is used, it is likelythat the screw will be damaged in theprocess of tightening it.
When tightening a screw with force, it isimportant to press the head hard intothe screw, again to avoid damaging thescrew.

Powered screwdriver
Interchangeable bits allows the use ofpowered screwdrivers, commonly usingan electric or air motor to rotate thebit.
Cordless drills are commonly used aspower screwdrivers, with many modelsfeaturing a torque-limiting clutch toprevent over driving or breaking thescrews

Ratcheting screwdriver
Some manualscrewdrivers have aratchet action wherebythe screwdriver blade is
locked to the handle forclockwise rotation, butuncoupled forcounterclockwise rotation
when set for tighteningscrews; and vice versa forloosening.

Warrington Hammer
Warrington hammer is a type oflightweight hammer designed foruse in tasks like wiring projects.
Many hardware stores carryWarrington hammers, often withseveral sizes available so thatpeople can pick a size and weight
appropriate to a task..

Warrington Hammer
The design of a Warringtonhammer is double headed.
One end of the head of thehammer has the classicrounded appearance peopleassociate with hammers.

The peen on the other end, however,
is wedge-shaped or flattened. This isdesigned to allow people to start
small nails and fasteners withouthaving to worry about hitting theirfingers.
The design also allows people to use
a Warrington hammer in settingswhere the larger peen will not fit,
such as tight corners.

Gimlet
A gimlet is a hand tool for
drilling small holes, mainly in
wood, without splitting. It was
defined in Joseph Gwilt'sArchitecture (1859) as "a piece ofsteel of a semi-cylindrical form, hollow on one side, having a
cross handle at one end and aworm or screw at the other".

Gimlet
A gimlet is always a small tool. A similartool of larger size is called an auger.
The cutting action of the gimlet is that
cutting edges pare away the woodwhich is moved out by the spiral sides, falling out through the entry hole.
This also pulls the gimlet further into
the hole as it is turned; unlike abradawl, pressure is not required oncethe tip has been drawn in.

Test pen
An electrical tester pen ,test pen, or voltagedetector is a device forquickly checking whether aconductor is live.
The device may have the formof a screwdriver.
The tip of the device is touchedto the conductor being tested
(for instance, it can be used ona wire in a switch or insertedinto a hole of an electric socket).

Test pen
The type of tester not requiringdirect contact is theinductive amplifier.
The user must touch the top of thehandle (which is metallic, unlike therest of the handle), at which pointthe indicator (LED or neon lamp) will
light up, or a speaker will buzz, if theconductor being tested is live.

Drills
A drill or drill motor is atool fitted with a cutting toolattachment or driving toolattachment, usually a drill bitor driver bit, used for drillingholes in various materials orfastening various materialstogether with the use offasteners.
There are many types of
drills: some are poweredmanually, others useelectricity (electric drill) orcompressed air (pneumaticdrill) as the motive power

Pistol grip corded drills
Drills with pistol grips arethe most common type inuse today, and areavailable in a huge variety
of subtypes.
A less common type is the
right-angle drill, a specialtool used by tradesmensuch as plumbers andelectricians

Hammer drills
The hammer drill is similarto a standard electric drill, with the exception that it isprovided with a hammer
action for drilling masonry.
The hammer action may beengaged or disengaged as
required. Most electrichammer drills are rated(input power) at between
600 and 1100 watts.

Rotary hammer drill
The rotary hammer drill (alsoknown as a rotary hammer, roto hammer drill or masonrydrill) combines a primary
dedicated hammer mechanismwith a separate rotationmechanism, and is used formore substantial material suchas masonry or concrete.

Cordless drill
A cordless drill is an electricdrill which usesrechargeable batteries. These drills are available with
similar features to an ACmains-powered drill.
They are available in thehammer drill configurationand most have a clutch,
which aids in driving screwsinto various substrates whilenot damaging them.

Drill press
A drill press (also knownas pedestal drill, pillardrill, or bench drill) is afixed style of drill thatmay be mounted on astand or bolted to thefloor or workbench.
A drill press consists of abase, column (or pillar),table, spindle (or quill),
and drill head, usuallydriven by an inductionmotor.

Drill press
The head has a set ofhandles (usually 3) radiatingfrom a central hub that, when turned, move thespindle and chuck vertically,
parallel to the axis of thecolumn.
The table can be adjustedvertically and is generallymoved by a rack and pinion;however, some older modelsrely on the operator to liftand decamp the table inposition.
