DESCRIPTION

Join us this Mother's Day at Empower church as Pastor Amber Harris brings an outstanding word on finding victory over false mindsets. "Escaping the Circus" looks into the four potholes that can derail us from living in the fulness of God's purposes and fulfilment. Through scripture we find examples of Godly men and women who overcame fear, comparison, striving, and insignificance through the grace of God, and how we can learn from their example.

Genesis 15:1-3 15 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” 2 But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue[a] childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.”

Comparison1 Samuel 17:38-40 (ESV) 38 Then Saul clothed David with his armor. He put a helmet of bronze on his head and clothed him with a coat of mail, 39 and David strapped his sword over his armor. And he tried in vain to go, for he had not tested them. Then David said to Saul, “I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them.” So David put them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd's pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine.

ComparisonHebrews 12:1-2 (ESV) 12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
