Introduction

The EPM add-in version 10.0 merges and replaces the features offered by:• The Analyzer module of SAP BusinessObjects Extended Analytics 7.5.• The Interface for Office (Interface for Excel, Interface for Word and Interface for PowerPoint) of SAP

BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 7.5.

The EPM add-in is provided with the following EPM solutions:• SAP BusinessObjects Financial Consolidation 10.0.• SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management models 10.0.• SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaver 10.0.• SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation, version for the Microsoft platform 10.0.

2.2 User Interface Changes

The EPM add-in contains dialog boxes where there were none in version 7.5. For this reason, the add-inoffers a completely different interface and way of working, meaning that you will be able to perform thesame actions as in version 7.5 but in a different way.

The following already existing user interface items in version 7.5 have been renewed or enhanced:• New pane. You can create reports by using the EPM pane. You can either place dimensions in the

appropriate sections of the pane or drag and drop the dimensions directly into the worksheet.• Context. The context can still be displayed inside the pane but can now also be displayed in a

dedicated horizontal bar: the EPM Context bar. You can specify display settings for the bar.

2.3 Moved Features

The following features that were available in the Interface for Excel in version 7.5 are available in version10.0 in the Consolidation Central view of the web client of Planning and Consolidation.• Actions on journals. Using the EPM add-in, you can click a dedicated button from the EPM tab of

the Excel ribbon as a shorcut to the Journals view in Consolidation Central. All actions on Journalsare performed in the Journals view.

• Setup of ownership-based hierarchies (new name for "dynamic hierarchies"). The ownership-basedhierarchies are set up in the Ownership Manager view in Consolidation Central. In the EPM add-in,you can then display in a report how the group structure has evolved over time.

2.4 EvDREs

In version 7.5, you create EvDREs. In the EPM add-in 10.0, you create reports, set options and formatthe reports in the user interface, using items such as dialog boxes to achieve the same results.• Creating Reports

There are different ways of creating reports in the EPM add-in. The two main dialog boxes to createand modify a report are the Report Editor and the Member Selector.

• Setting Options

You can specify various options for reports in the EPM add-in, in the following dialog boxes: UserOptions, Sheet Options, Options tab of the Report Editor.

• Defining Formatting Settings

You can define all the format settings to be applied to reports in the EPM add-in, in the dynamicformatting sheet.

However, with the EPM add-in 10 SP04 Patch 01, you can open and use the EvDREs you have createdin version 7.5. Some behavior differences exist between version 7.5 and version 10 SP04 Patch 01.For more information, see Existing EvDRE - Differences in version 7.5 and version 10.

2.4.1 EvDRE Migration - Equivalent Features in the EPM add-in

Page 11: EPMofc 10 Whatsnew En

Note:As the EPM add-in does not enable to create EVDREs, the UI dialog box enabling to create them doesnot exist anymore and when you enter =EVDRE( ) in a cell and perform a refresh, it does not workanymore.

However, some differences (listed below) exist between version 7.5 and version 10 SP04 Patch 01.

Workbook OptionsThe following options do not exist anymore in the workbook options:• "Override Current View" options: the equivalent features in the EPM add-in is the Context Lock in

the Context Options. Also, as an equivalent to the "Save CV with active book" option that existed inversion 7.5, you can use the Context Lock feature.

• "Refresh after data send": the equivalent feature in the EPM add-in is the Save Data (button in theEPM tab of the ribbon).

• "EVDRE: Refresh by sheet": the equivalent feature in the EPM add-in is the Refresh (button in theEPM tab of the ribbon).

Select Members CommandIn the contextual menu, the "Select members" command does not exist in version 10. The equivalentfeature in the EPM add-in is the Insert Member feature.

Member Order for BAS KeywordWhen specifying the BAS keyword, the same members are retrieved, but in a different order.

• In version 7.5, based on the hierarchy above, the members are retrieved in the following order: Entity1, Entity 2, Entity 3, Entity 4, Entity 5, Entity 6, Entity 7, Entity 8.

2011-10-1411

What's New Compared to Planning and Consolidation 7.5

Page 12: EPMofc 10 Whatsnew En

• In version 10, based on the hierarchy above, the members are retrieved in the following order(hierarchy level order): Entity 8, Entity 1, Entity 2, Entity 7, Entity 3, Entity 4, Entity 5, Entity 6.

Member Retrieval for MEMBERS KeywordThe following behavior difference exists between version 7.5 and version 10 only in multi-hierarchycases. In version 10, a member with the same code in two hierarchies is retrieved twice.

Member Retrieval for BASMEMBERS KeywordThe following behavior difference exists between version 7.5 and version 10 only in multi-hierarchycases. In version 10, a member with the same code in two hierarchies is retrieved twice.

Member IDIn version 10, the ID of a Planning and Consolidation member cannot contain a blank member anddoes not support non-latin characters.

Default Expand/RefreshIn version 7.5, by default, when clicking the Expand button in the ribbon, the workbook was expanded. Now in version 10, the worksheet is expanded by default.

Dynamic hierarchies / Ownership-based hierarchiesNote:"Dynamic hierarchies" have been renamed into "Ownership-based hierarchies" in version 10.

In version 10, the two hierarchies Group and Entity are merged into a virtual hierarchy (based on therelations defined in the ownership-based hierarchy) and the dynamic selection is applied to the virtualhierarchy.

Here is an example.

This is the Group hierarchy:

This is the Entity hierarchy:

Based on the relations between Group members and Entity members, and according to Category andTime, the two Group and Entity hierarchies are merged into the following virtual hierarchy :

The following features are new in the EPM add-in version 10.0, compared to Planning and ConsolidationInterface for Office 7.5:

Report Creation by Drag and Drop in the WorksheetUsing the EPM pane, you can create reports by dragging and dropping the dimensions directly in theworksheet.

Member RecognitionYou can create a report manually: you can enter dimensionmembers andMicrosoft Office Excel formulasdirectly in a cell of a report. When the Member Recognition is activated, the members are automaticallyrecognized and the Microsoft Office Excel formulas are automatically converted into local members.

Local MembersYou can create members mainly for calculations on the current report. These members are called "localmembers". Local members have the same behavior as any other member, but they contain standardMicrosoft Office Excel formula or EPM functions.

Data FilteringYou can filter data in a report by using the Filtering of the Report Editor.

Expand/Collapse in the Page AxisYou can perform an expand or a collapse on a member that is part of the column axis.

Switching AxesDirectly from the EPM pane, you can invert the row and the column axes of a report.

Report HighlightDirectly from the EPM pane, you can highlight the current report. When a sheet contains several reports,it enables you to differentiate reports from one another.

Formatting on Hierarchy LevelsUsing the dynamic formatting sheet, you can define format settings for the different levels of hierarchies(structural or relative hierarchies).

Book Publication: new for Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaverThe Book Publication is available in the EPM add-in for Planning and Consolidation, version for SAPNetWeaver.

2.7 Features in version 7.5 that are not Provided by the EPM add-in

The following features that were provided by Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaverand/or Planning and Consolidation, version for the Microsoft platform are not available in the EPMadd-in:• Custom menus and EvMNU parameters. In the EPM add-in, you can however define the following

shortcuts to EPM add-in features:• Execute a macro directly from a worksheet cell, by using the "EPMExecuteAPI" function.• Display Business Process Flow actions and execute them from the EPM pane.

• VBA macros: the EPM add-in provides macros, but with different names. If you want to use macros, you need to use the new ones. To consult the list of macros in version 7.5 and the correpondingmacros in version 10, see List of Macros in version 7.5 and macros in version 10 in this document. All new macros are documented in the API section of the SAP BusinessObjects EPM Solutions,add-in for Microsoft Office Help.

• Some EV functions are no longer supported. See EV Functions.• Data save (called "data submit" in version 7.5) is not available in the EPM add-in when using Microsoft

Office Word and PowerPoint.

Note:Some features will be delivered in future support packages for version 10.0. Refer to the list of limitationsin the appropriate SAP note.

2.8 Precisions on Other Features

Park and GoThis feature no longer exists as one single feature.

In the EPM add-in, you can still perform the same actions using several different features:• To lock members of the context for the worksheet, use the Context Options.• To freeze data refresh, use the Freeze Data Refresh option.• To work in the workbook offline, use the Offline mode.

Word and PowerPoint• Inserting Insight KPI: this feature was related to the Insight module in version 7.5.• Inserting Interface for Excel objects: this is not available in the EPM add-in. Since Word and

PowerPoint objects are directly used in Word and PowerPoint, you no longer need to embed Excelobjects.

Cell-based formulas: EPM functionsThe EPM functions are formulas that enable you to retrieve specific information or data and to make areport behave in a certain way, providing power and flexibility to reports.

Override Cell Content with FormulasYou can enter a formula in a cell that already contains data. When you perform a refresh, the formulais not removed if you select the Keep Formula on Data option.

Offline ModeYou can make the current workbook an offline workbook so any user can read it even the users thatdo not have the EPM add-in installed. When offline, a workbook behaves like a standard MicrosoftOffice Excel workbook.

Workbook DistributionYou can make report workbooks available to a set of users by storing the workbooks in a folder orsending them by email. Using a template, workbooks are generated for one or more reports and forone or more variable members. You can launch the distribution at any time or you can schedule it.

Worksheet GenerationYou can automatically generate several reports in several sheets within the current workbook, basedon an existing report contained in a sheet. This feature enables you to quickly create several worksheetsinside a single workbook and saves you from having to create several reports for different dimensionmembers.

Quick LinksYou can create quick links in a report to another report contained in another Microsoft Excel workbook,Word document or PowerPoint presentation.

Local MembersYou can create members mainly for calculations on the current report. These members are called "localmembers". Local members have the same behavior as any other member, but they contain standardMicrosoft Office Excel formula or EPM functions.

Note:Excel formulas are now automatically converted into local members instead of custom members. However, you can convert local members into custommembers (on a Local or an SAP BusinessObjectsEnterprise connection).

EPM add-in in Microsoft Office Word and PowerPointThe EPM add-in installs also for Word and PowerPoint.

In Word and PowerPoint, you can use many of the features that are offered in Excel, namely:• Copy and paste an existing report. You can perform a copy/paste from and to: a Microsoft Office

Excel worksheet, a Microsoft OfficeWord document and a Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentation.• Create reports using the Report Editor and the EPM pane. You can select dimension members in

the Member Selector dialog box.
