The Navarre advaNTageFor centuries, hardwood floors were finished with a variety of natural

oils or wax to protect and nourish the floors to withstand decades of use.

With the evolution of modern polyurethane and acrylic hard finishes,

hardwood floors finished with natural oils declined in popularity.

Today, natural oiled floors are being embraced by those drawn to the

enhanced “naturalness” of natural oiled floors such as Navarre.

Polyurethane and acrylic hard finishes form what can aptly be described as

a plastic film on the surface of the floor, providing protection, yet sacrificing

the natural and inherent beauty of the wood floor. To the contrary, a

natural oil finish actually protects the floor by integrating the oil into the

wood itself, in essence becoming one with the wood, providing protection

for the wood without sacrificing the wood’s natural beauty, but rather

enhancing it.

dispelliNg The MaiNTeNaNce MyThHomeowners often have the misperception that natural oiled floors are more

maintenance intensive than polyurethane/acrylic floors when in fact the

maintenance schedules for each are similar. Typically, whenever a floor with

a synthetic finish would need a screen and recoat, the natural oiled floor

would need a maintenance coat of oil. But that’s where the similarity ends.

And this is where one of the great advantages of a Navarre oiled floor begins.

The Big advaNTage: easy care Consider this…a high traffic area in your home is showing significant

wear to the finish and needs to be refinished to regain its original luster.

If your floor has a hard finish of polyurethane, acrylic, or aluminum-oxide,

the entire floor must be refinished, resulting in downtime, expense, and

a general hassle. If, instead, your floor is a natural oil finished Navarre

floor, the worn area can be spot repaired by lightly sanding the affected

area and applying a new coat of maintenance oil. Minimal downtime.

Minimal expense. Minimal hassle.

And the best part is, the older a NAVARRE floor gets and the more it is

used, the better it looks. Imagine that, a hardwood floor that actually looks

eNviroNMeNTally respoNsiBle, Fsc® cerTiFiedNavarre Timeless Wood Floors are certified FSC® Pure by the Forest

Stewardship Council. A non-profit organization, FSC® sets standards for

forestry that are environmentally and socially responsible. FSC® is the

recognized authority for wood certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Navarre’s FSC® Pure designation includes the entirety of the hardwood

plank, not just the top wear layer.

added urea formaldehyde, providing better indoor air quality for your

home than comparable floors. Navarre floors meet the strict

requirements for emissions as set by CARB (California Air Resources

Board), the leading government agency regulating indoor air quality.

Thick solid oak Wear layerNavarre styles in the Basque and Haute collections are endowed with a 6 mm

solid oak wear layer, that’s nearly ¼”, giving these floors one of the

thickest wear layers available on an engineered hardwood floor.

Even the 4 mm wear layer on the floors in the Landes and Catalonia

collections are much more substantial than standard engineered wear

layers which can be as thin as .6 mm!
