SOLUTION BRIEF

ENTERPRISE FILE SYNC & SHARE

Enterprise file sync & share (EFSS) services give end users the ability to save documents, images and videos in a private cloud

or in an on-premise storage system, and then access the files on other desktop or mobile devices. EFSS also makes it easy to

share files. This can deter users from storing corporate data in public file-sharing services that fall outside of corporate control

or industry compliance.

But to deploy effective EFSS services, IT must also solve several challenges:

Flexible Devices and Applications: Users want access via any device, any application and any operating system for any use case— regardless of whether the company or the user provides the device and the application.

Cost: A self-hosted solution requires storage and compute resources to be dedicated to the service.

Growth: Administrators need the ability to easily increment storage capacity as users rely more and more on EFSS services to collaborate.

Security: IT must protect the company’s intellectual property as well as employee and customer privacy for data at rest and during transmission.

Aquari Storage At-a-Glance Allows enterprises to retain local control of as much or as little data as needed

Supports sync & share, backup & archive, and home- grown/custom apps requiring traditional le-share access—through a single cluster

Makes it easy to build clusters with modest capacity and grow to meet future needs

Enables cluster architecture to be tuned for I/O, capacity or a mix of both

Provides exibility to add or re-allocate storage to conform to changing needs

Permits IT to adjust cluster congurations as projects spin up and down

Hosts data backups stored via sync & share

Retain Control Over Your Data

The Answer: EFSS Paired With Aquari StorageEFSS solutions make syncing and sharing files safe and easy across public networks such as the Internet. Built from the ground

up, modern EFSS solutions address the common limitations of traditional file-sharing technologies.

Pairing an enterprise EFSS solution with Aquari provides several key advantages:

Flexible storage access via standard protocols: IT can choose an EFSS solution that supports a range of clients, operating systems and applications with confidence it will work with Aquari.

Support for a number of traditional and modern data-access protocols: Including CIFS, NFS, S3, Swift and block (RBD).

Reduced cost: By absorbing islands of legacy storage for existing archive, backup and other applications onto a single platform.

Files presented to users in native desktop and mobile clients: This makes data access intuitive for users and integration with new applications easier.

Data stored as objects behind the EFSS service: An architecture that increases flexibility and reduces management complexity.

Easy-to-use managed storage: With GUI and API management, IT can quickly and efficiently support end-user needs— drastically cutting down the use of public ‘Shadow IT’ solutions.

Support for EFSS solutions that encrypt data at rest: Modern EFSS solutions protect data at each step of the way—on user devices and during transmission as well as at rest in the storage cluster.

EFSS solutions that leverage Aquari Storage also enable enterprises to retain control over some or all of their data according

to business requirements and industry compliance. The solution architecture is available in two types:

Private Cloud: The entire solution runs on-premises so IT can manage and retain control over all data and access to the data. EFSS services can also ride on a cluster shared with other projects to benefit from existing backup and archive procedures.

Hybrid Cloud: Combines an on-premises core architecture with a pool of storage in the cloud for data that is in less demand. IT retains direct control over data in the core pool, and the amount of data considered “core” is configurable to meet current corporate policy. A pool of offsite storage in the cloud can also store data in less demand as well as data migrated between the cloud and the core, depending on user demand.
