International School Delft will open

Secondary School

In August 2019, the International School Delft will open a secondary school. Following the successful development of the International School Delft Primary School over the last five years, international students in the Delft area will now be able to continue their education at secondary level.

ProgrammesThe International School Delft will seek to offer the full range of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes. The Primary School already offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). The Secondary School will start by offering the first two years of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) for students aged 11 to 16 years. In the coming years, the school will expand to offer all years, adding the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) as well. International School Delft will then become the third school in The Netherlands and the only school in the region to offer the complete International Baccalaureate Curriculum for students from 4 to 18.

FacilitiesThe new secondary school will be temporarily accommodated in an existing building at Colijnlaan in Delft, in the immediate proximity of Stanislascollege, allowing for joint activities with Stanislas students. The building will be converted into an attractive learning environment with all facilities required for the MYP inquiry-based learning, such as a science lab, a design studio and a media centre. This building will allow for initial growth and will be able to accommodate 150 students. Plans for a permanent new building, to be located near the primary school, are already under way. The new building will be designed to take into account the school learning concept and will be able to accommodate 450 secondary students.

The educators have sound academic qualifications and demonstrate a commitment to the school as a learning and living community.

Stanislascollege & Lucas OnderwijsThe Secondary School will be linked to Stanislascollege Westplantsoen, a well-established Dutch secondary school, in Delft. Stanislascollege has a tradition in international mindedness, cultural awareness and performance of excellence and was awarded the label ‘excellent school’ by the Dutch education authorities in January 2018. This school is governed by the Board of Stichting Lucas Onderwijs, a strong educational group with primary and secondary schools in the region. www.stanislascollege.nl/westplantsoen
