It is our pleasure to provide this inaugural annual report for the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program. We have endeavored to create an enterprise worthy of the Paul F. and Virginia J. Engler Foundation investment and build it up in granite so its impact will be felt for generations to come.
The Engler program provides a transformative experience for students; while there is much work yet to be done, our momentum is established and our commitment to the vision is resolute. Three guiding principles have driven our decisions:
• Invest in people
• Create pride of ownership
• Champion the intersection of ideas, talent, and skill.
Success to date can be attributed to the energy, work ethic, passion, and vision of the Engler Entrepreneurs – those young men and women who would rather try, fail, and try again
than to be beholden to circumstance or a sense of entitlement.
We believe that successful growth of entrepreneurial talent requires the following steps:
• Identifypeoplewith grit, courage, and passion as early as possible. Then nurture their aspirations and cultivate their partnerships as they endeavor to build the future.
• Developtalentby getting students in the game early – demand their best, coach them in both success and failure, and surround them with the experiences and stories of entrepreneurs who have blazed the trail.
• Buildaculturethat inspires entrepreneurial behavior and creates partnerships, collaboration, and a willingness to sail into uncharted waters.
• Designasystemthatsupports Engler Entrepreneurs during both their undergraduate years and beyond as they build enterprises and pursue dreams.
We look forward to the impact of the Engler Entrepreneurs on the world. We have far to travel to attain our highest aspirations, though with each step we are thankful for the opportunity to be engaged in the wonderful work of shaping the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Sincerely,
Our MISSIONTo build enterprises that contribute value to agriculture
and communities by nurturing, challenging, and equipping entrepreneurial talent.

The Engler lecture series is founded on the premise that aspiring entrepreneurs can gain significant value from associating with successful entrepreneurs and learning from their experiences – the good, the bad, and the ugly.
These lectures offer Engler students the opportunity to hear the story of how a company was created, and also for one-on-one discussions with invited guests. Through these conversations students will gain deeper insight into the world of entrepreneurship, while developing professional relationships of lasting value.
