Hou manu times have you needed to write a report and found yourself unable to put the first words down on paper? You are indeed fortunate if this has never happened to you. Bat if you have ever experienced this writers block. Or inabilitu to begin to write, you may almost have wished that someone had invented a magic pen - one that would automatically begin to convert the thoughts in your mind into words on paper. It might have seemed to you that only a genius could accomplish this feat.But must one be a genius to write well? Thomas Edison is said once to have described genius as consisiting of two percent inspiration and ninety eight perspiration. Applying Edisons idea to writing, we might say that good writing is two percent creativity and ninety eight percent hard work.In other words, writing for any purpose must begin with an idea. But the idea can become an effective piece of writing only after the writer has fulfilled two basic requirements: 1) clarifying the odea (or purpose) for writing, and 2) shaping that idea so that another person (the reader) can understandit.
If should be remembered that writing is communicating with a reader and that one has to write about fifteen to thirty words five minute to kup from completely frustrating your thinking.
Writing the final draft. Type or write the final copy neatly. This is not in order to impress your read. But precisely because you want details of form not to be noticed at all.If at all possible, you should complete your final draft at least a day or two before the actual deadline for submitting the report. Then, just beforeyou submit the report, reread it with a more detached attitude. You may find some things that you had dverlooked before. Correct them and, if necessary, rewrite the page or the whole report report. This final repeading and rewriting is of course no guaramtee of perfection. After all, you still havent discovered the
