If there’s one thing that Rob wants everyone on campus to know about him it’s that he doesn’t wear, and has never worn, clogs. According to him there are major differences. Among them, take-out food options are limited in Holland. There are far more fast food places in the U.S. Also - clothing in Holland is REALLY expensive compared to the U.S. Get this. In Holland, Levis jeans cost about $120 a pair. Rob, a marketing/management and labor relations major, was recruited to Cleveland and CSU to play tennis for the men’s team. Since his arrival three years ago, Rob and his talented teammates have dominated the Horizon League conference. Last year they arrived on the national scene by creeping into the national rankings. This year the team will rely on the experience of five seniors to make it four titles in a row. An honors student from the day he stepped on campus, Rob has worked hard to balance his schoolwork and tennis obligations while main- taining an active social life on and off campus. While the week consists of attending classes, studying, tennis practices and weight training sessions the weekends are for tennis matches against colleges around the country and of course for fun. On campus Rob plays CSU Rec Center intramural soccer and attends CSU Viking athletic events with friends, and can also be found off campus hanging out at Crocker Park Mall in Westlake, playing video games and attending social gatherings more commonly known as parties. So – if you ever happen to be on campus or in a marketing class and hear someone with what sounds like an English accent, wearing a CSU tennis shirt and looking a whole lot like the guy in these photos, it’s probably Rob. For CSU senior Rob Fox, it’s all

about the shoes. If there’s one thing

that Rob wants everyone on campus

to know about him it’s that he doesn’t

wear, and has never worn, clogs.

As a native of Holland, Rob gets a lot of ques-

tions about his homeland, which is known for

wooden shoes, cheese and windmills, and is

often asked about what it’s like to live overseas.

According to him there are major differences.

Among them, take-out food options are limited

in Holland. There are far more fast food places

in the U.S. Also - clothing in Holland is REALLY

expensive compared to the U.S. Get this. In

Holland, Levis jeans cost about $120 a pair.

Rob, a marketing/management and labor

relations major, was recruited to Cleveland and

CSU to play tennis for the men’s team. Since his

arrival three years ago, Rob and his talented

teammates have dominated the Horizon League

conference. Last year they arrived on the national

scene by creeping into the national rankings.

This year the team will rely on the experience of

five seniors to make it four titles in a row.

An honors student from the day he stepped on

campus, Rob has worked hard to balance his

schoolwork and tennis obligations while main-

taining an active social life on and off campus.

While the week consists of attending classes,

studying, tennis practices and weight training

sessions the weekends are for tennis matches

against colleges around the country and of

course for fun.

On campus Rob plays CSU Rec Center intramural

soccer and attends CSU Viking athletic events

with friends, and can also be found off campus

hanging out at Crocker Park Mall in Westlake,

playing video games and attending social

gatherings more commonly known as parties.

So – if you ever happen to be on campus or in

a marketing class and hear someone with what

sounds like an English accent, wearing a CSU

tennis shirt and looking a whole lot like the guy

in these photos, it’s probably Rob. Say hello,

strike up a conversation and meet a new foreign

friend. Just don’t ask him if he wears clogs.

We traCked oUr masCot, magnUs, doWn and asked him a CoUpLe qUestions aboUt the UpComing basketbaLL season.

What did you do this summer to prepare for the rigorous 2010-11 basketball campaign?I’ve been working out at the Rec Center running around the indoor track, swimming laps in the pool, pumping iron and working on my hand-eye coordination while playing video games in the new Student Center. I’ve developed a few new moves for the season that I’m going to need to be flexible for so I’ve been doing some yoga as well. I’ve gotten some strange looks from others in the class but I think they enjoy having me around.

one

Do you have any special plans for the season? In addition to my new moves I plan on being around campus a lot more this season. Look for me at home basketball games and around campus as well. I may even hit up a few parades downtown and events at other places around Cleveland. I need to get out more and mingle with my peeps. And one more thing - GO VIKES!!!!!!!

Lin Wu is an international student from China attending graduate school at the Nance College of Business. After a little bit of convincing and promising him a good home-cooked meal he kindly allowed us a peak in his wallet . . . or should we say wallets.

W hat’s in Your Wallet?1 & 2) tWoWaLLets? He has one wallet that he uses in the U.S., and a different one for when he is in China. He claims it’s easier to keep things organized this way.

12

3) viking Card His CSU ID card gets him into the Rec Center and he puts Viking Cash on it to buy food and CSU gear on campus.

3

4) drivers LiCense Lin’s first priority when he came to America was to get a drivers license – eliminating his need for a limo and chauffeur.

4

5) Credit Card Like the commercial says - don’t leave home without it. Lin doesn’t. You shouldn’t either.

5

6) Chinese Cash Did you know the national currency of China is the Yuan? We didn’t. The exchange rate is about 6.5 Yuans to a dollar.
