START UP In 2006 the number of MEP Companies on the market was already too big, prices were going down and the quality level started to decrease dramatically. By the other hand, staring with 2008 first signs of the economical crisis appeared and the number and the size of investment decreased also. As we were achieved a very good technical knowledge and management level, I didn't want to lower the quality and I was almost forced to keep only the best workers and to go only for high quality works. So we started to offer more and more Engineering and EPCM services and I started to study deeper the energy efficiency, going to existing clients and proposing solutions to reduce the energy bill, even before the market asked it. EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW Moreover, I started to study Renewable Energies and I understand very soon that the biggest problem is about prices not technical. So I went to China and Germany for some training, in order to understand what suppliers are offering and what they are going to do next, especially related to prices policy. I was even thinking at that time that it will be not difficult to start producing some types of heat pumps in our own workshop to make them chipper, and I bought one from China in order to test the performance figures. After making a lot of studies and tests I finally understood that for the moment the future should be in the Sun energy and I still strongly believe this, but I’m looking more to steam generating, Stirling engine and Sun powered Absorption Chillers. As long others Renewable Energies are not endless, especially biomass, and while biogas should be also a very good solution side by side with already classical hydro and wind solutions, but only when they are available, we can only fight to make them chipper. But no matter what future will show us regarding the sources of energy I saw from beginning that our job is to preserve what we have and to use it clever, and this is what I tried and I’m still trying to explain to my clients. And to use it clever doesn’t means only to respect regulations and to apply prefabricated solutions from books, it’s more about creativity and that’s why I like this area so much.

RADIANT CEILLING BREVET

Being interested by energy savings and thermal comfort from my HVAC activity beginning, my first preoccupations were going first to radiant heating and cooling systems as the required temperature is medium and can be achieved cheaper. So, after studying condensation boilers I saw we can do cooling thru radiant ceiling using even the underground water as it is, if it’s available. After two month of tests I realized a very simple radiant heating/cooling panels system, using an existing false ceiling system and mounting pipes inside and finally I’ve got a brevet for it.

START UP

In 2006 the number of MEP Companies on the market was already too big, prices were going down and the quality level started to decrease dramatically. By the other hand, staring with 2008 first signs of the economical crisis appeared and the number and the size of investment decreased also. As we were achieved a very good technical knowledge and management level, I didn't want to lower the quality and I was almost forced to keep only the best workers and to go only for high quality works. So we started to offer more and more Engineering and EPCM services and I started to study deeper the energy efficiency, going to existing clients and proposing solutions to reduce the energy bill, even before the market asked it.EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW

Moreover, I started to study Renewable Energies and I understand very soon that the biggest problem is about prices not technical. So I went to China and Germany for some training, in order to understand what suppliers are offering and what they are going to do next, especially related to prices policy.I was even thinking at that time that it will be not difficult to start producing some types of heat pumps in our own workshop to make them chipper, and I bought one from China in order to test the performance figures.

MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS

Energy Cost reduction Project for Canam Manac –Steel Plus Offices building with heat recovery, energy accumulation and heat pump solutions, ideas which I have been integrated in a generic solution for this type of buildings and used it for other clients too, with small changes. Accumulating cold water underground and using it in a separate radiant cooling system, ceiling type, we succeed to cover an important part of the required energy, in order to allow to existing systems to support new energy requirements due to new consumers apparition. Recovering the heat from kitchens and from exhausted air we used it for preparing fresh air for new spaces and people by using heat pumps.

Reducing heat loses by improving walls insulation and recovering the heat from exhausted air by heat exchangers and air to air heat pumps we succeed to solve three new floors for NEPI Offices building from Brasov without increasing the existing installed power and using existing piping network.

Brasov City Hall-Wedding HouseThis was the most challenging Project I ever met and finally my biggest professional satisfaction, mainly from technical point of view. It’s about a space where energy sources were too low and too expensive and we had to find cheapest solutions to solve HVAC matters, in very difficult working conditions and in the wrong time.Inside of the internal courtyard of an existing old building (historical monument), O shape, the Client decided to build a new small one, having two levels: at the semi-basement a new meeting room and a special place for formalizing marriages, at the first level. Above the courtyard has been raised a huge self supported glass made roof, to protect the guests during ceremonies, as inside was not enough place for everybody. When we arrived everything was done except MEP installations.

THE MOST REPRESENTATIVE PROJECT:Brasov City Hall-Wedding House

Inside of the internal courtyard of an existing old building (historical monument), O shape, the Client decided to build a new small one, having two levels: at the semi-basement a new meeting room and a special place for formalizing marriages, at the first level. Above the courtyard has been raised a huge self supported glass made roof, to protect the guests during ceremonies, as inside was not enough place for everybody. When we arrived everything was done except MEP installations. So, basically we had to face four mains issues:•Technical restrictions do to the status of the existing old building•Not enough electrical power available•Huge amount of heat created by Sun energy because the shape of the glass made roof.• We were invited too late and the budget was lowThe story is very interesting, too long for a single page and very difficult to be explained in words, because it was very complex. For the roof issue I proposed to wash it with chilled water. In order to cool down the water we used the timing and accumulation principles meaning one single classical chiller has been used to cool the small building during day time and to cool down the water for the roof washing system during night time, after geothermal energy has be used in the first step . Moreover, the return of this loop has been realized using the existing tubing of the rain water drainage to get a supplementary evaporative cooling effect. In the thirst step we used free cooling and only after, if the temperature was not enough low, we used the classical chiller for couple of hours. And only for couple of days in an year. So in the end we’ve got two “house in house” spaces heated and cooled using everything we could use, in small parts; we also used heat recovery, roof defrost with warm air jets, artesian wells for evaporative cooling, radiant heating / cooling, and heat pumps principles, everything in a single place, making separate and independent installations , all managed by a dedicated BMS. Because of the lack of space all AHU were manufactured in the functioning position as well as the piping and air tubing for HVAC and fire fighting systems. Results were very spectaculars and only some images can show a part of this Project which I’m very proud of.
