engine characteristics to be altered to

are chosen by using a plug-in connec-

[ TANK / AIRFLOW-SYSTEM ]

The tank has been designed primarily for ergonomics and provides

optimum contact with the bike. The ducts of the KTM AIRFLOW-system,

through which fresh air flows to the airbox, are situated below the

spoilers.

[ TANK COVER ]

The tank cover with the bayonet cap and new non-return valve avoids unwanted opening by

providing an additional level of security. When unlocked, access is obtained by pressing the

orange inner segment – you can’t get more secure than that!

Fully re-designed fork with comprehensive adjustment settings for the

best possible adaptation to the track and to the rider. It can be opti-

mally and comfortably adjusted in rebound and compression and also

A trend-setting airbox with a large volume for huge

amounts of power and a special outer contour for

optimum knee purchase. The Twin-Air air filter is

easily accessible and can be exchanged quickly

[ CYLINDER HEAD ]

The overhead camshaft not only

actuates the four titanium inlet

valves via ultra-light cam levers

but also serves as a centrifuge

for engine ventilation. The

optimized auto-decompression

system improves starting

behaviour and the obliquely

mounted magnesium cylinder

head cover greatly simplifies

valve adjustment.

[ CRANK DRIVE ]

A compact crankshaft designed for maximum stiff-

ness actuates the very light forged pistons and

also drives a balancer shaft. The weights of this

balancer shaft are arranged outside the crank-

case, which reduces splashing losses.

ENGINE 450 EXCKTM FOUR STROKES HAVE DOMINATED THE OFF-ROAD SCENE IN THE E2 AND E3 CLASSES FOR MANY YEARS. potentiometer to produce

The hydraulic clutch

actuator from Brembo

establishes a new

benchmark in terms

of proportioning. The

clutch itself, with an

optimized disc pack, is

now supplied with addi-

tional oil. This reduces

the temperature and

therefore wear under

extreme loading.

[ IGNITION ]

A further improvement in combustion by means of an optimized

ignition curve and new spark plug. This results in further improved

ridability especially in the lower speed range.

Innovative engine management with electronic injec-

tion and EPT (Electronic Power Throttle) system – the

position of the throttle is electronically controlled in

addition to the manual throttle twist grip actuation.

This guarantees very uniform power delivery which

can be switched between “soft” or “aggressive”

using the “Map Select Switch” under the seat.

There is an additional switch position for the use

of low-octane fuel (down to 80 octane).
