End of Term 2 Newsletter, 2021
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,
Here we are at the half way point of the school year and the end of Term 2. Lots has happened
already this year and we are sure the final half will be just as busy and rewarding.
Welcome
Today we welcomed Mr Robert Campbell to our school community. Robert
will be commencing as our new Acting Principal next term for the remainder
of this school year. We are certain that he will enjoy his time here at St.
Mary’s and wish him the best of luck as he leads us into the future.
Farewell and All the Best
Tomorrow we farewell Mr Kevin Billion, to celebrate his time with us here at
St. Mary’s please join us for Mass from 8:45am and a shared morning tea
afterwards.
Free Dress Friday
For a gold coin donation to the St. Vinnies Winter Appeal your children are most welcome to wear
free dress tomorrow. This is also in timing for the Women’s NRL State of Origin, so if you have
maroon or blue wear your team colours (optional).
Please ensure that closed shoes and school hats are worn, and please be sun safe too.
Commencement of Term 3
We look forward to seeing you all back – and we welcome some new families – for the
commencement of Term 3 on Monday 12th July.
Prayer
A Prayer for Holidays Thank you for all the beauty and joy and wonder of the
holidays. Bring sweet moments into the hard days.
Show your fingerprints and signs of your faithfulness and goodness. Amen.
Holidays
Thank you all for a wonderful term and we wish you a safe, restful, fun and eventful Winter holiday
break and look forward to hearing all about your adventures when you all return.
Thank you
We also thank our staff and support staff for a wonderful Semester 1. May you too have a restful
and well-earned break, stay safe and see you all next term.
The results for the St Mary’s Athletics Carnival 2021
The St Mary’s Athletics Carnival was held on Monday and Tuesday 21st and 22nd June 2021. An
Athletics Carnival can only be successful with the help of many people. I would like to extend my
gratitude to the following people.
• Mrs Kim Walsh and the band of parent helpers who ran a very successful canteen. The
menu you provide and the time you give is greatly appreciated.
• The Beaudesert Little Athletics committee members who prepared the oval and allowed us
to borrow equipment.
• All staff, parents and children who volunteered their time to help set-up in the mornings,
and pack up in the afternoons.
• The parents who helped the staff officiate events.
• The spectators who enthusiastically supported the students. The children were thrilled to
have so many people cheering them on.
• The students who competed fiercely, displayed outstanding sportsmanship and behaved
wonderfully throughout the two days.
• The staff of St Mary’s. Their willingness, patience and skills make an organiser’s job very
easy.
A big congratulations to Duhig who took out the Deeran Shield this year for the total overall points
for the 2 days. Well done McAuley who were awarded the ‘Team Spirit’ Trophy. It was a very close
competition between the 2 houses!

It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of our second term of kindy. It has been a wonderful term with some great learning. This group of children thoroughly enjoyed our learning about Dinosaurs and created some wonderful artwork and also enjoyed the songs, rhymes and retelling the stories. It was also so wonderful to be able to join the St Mary’s school for a running race and those that could make it did so well and ran beautifully. At this stage of the year we like to give you the opportunity to touch base and discuss your children’s learning and progress. At the start of next term parents will have the opportunity to set up a meeting with me to discuss your child’s progress. I will attach a schedule to the email and ask you to let me know a times that would suit you and I will confirm the times available. We value the trust you have placed in us (as early educators) to care for your children and help them grow in all kinds of ways. As a part of the St Mary’s Kindergarten community, we encourage you to share stories about the experiences and opportunities your child enjoys here. We know that many families come to us on the recommendation of current and past families and for this reason, I ask you to consider leaving a review for the service on Facebook and Google using the following links www.facebook.com/CatholicEarlyEdCare/ and https://g.page/kindergarten-beaudesert/review?gm. Thank you
Dates to remember:
June: 23rd - Last day of Term 2 July: 12th - Term 3 begins
19thth to 27th – parent interviews
Premier’s Reading Challenge. We have enrolled the children in the Premier’s reading challenge. This is a wonderful way to promote a love of reading. Each child will be given an Individual Reader’s Record to record the number of books they have read. We will be joining the challenge from the 16th to the 22nd August and you are encouraged to read as many books with your child as you can.
Term 2 fees Term 2 fees should all be up to date if a payment plan is not already in place. If you still have fees outstanding, please make sure that you settle them as soon as possible.
Family Photos We would still love to display a family photo for each child if possible. If you would like to email a photo to me, we will be able to print it and display it in the classroom. Reading It is important to remember the importance of reading aloud to our children every day. This quote from Mem Fox – a wondeful children’s stories author sums it up beautifully. Our families are welcome to make use of our book borrowing facility in the foyer. Simply sign the book out when you borrow one, and sign it back in when you return it. If anyone has any books they would like to donate, we would be very grateful.
Prep Enrolments 2022
St Mary’s School is busy with their 2022 enrolment process and have started family interviews. If you are planning to send your child to St Mary’s and you have not yet put in an enrolment form, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you.
Show and tell Thank you to the families that have supported their children in choosing appropriate items to bring for show and tell. Bringing something meaningful gives them the courage and confidence to share their thoughts and ideas in front of the group. You will notice the table near the carpet that shows us what we are learning about. We would appreciate it if you could support your child to bring something for show and tell, once every 2 weeks.
Through our five senses: We have been exploring ways to promote physical wellbeing by:
Building awareness of the senses
We have enjoyed a number of sensory activities, we have been observant and noticed tiny details and we have enjoyed using our sense of hearing for listening, music and making shakers.
Connectedness: We were talking about Reconciliation Week and the desire for everyone to be involved in caring for our world. We showed respect for environments by
planting some vegetables in the garden and by helping to water them and care for them.
St Mary’s Sports Carnival It was wonderful to be able to join St Mary’s school for a running race. Our children all did so well and even though it was scary and overwhelming it was lovely to see how they had grown and built their confidence since our cross country race. Joining the school for events like the Sports gives children a sense of belonging to the greater school community and it helps to make their transition to Prep a much easier one. Days like this also help the children to explore ways to be healthy and safe and promote physical wellbeing. Well done to all our little runners.
Happy Birthday Happy birthday to our kindy friends who have recently celebrated their birthdays.
