Next week is our last week of the term and the 2017 academic year. END OF TERM ASSEMBLY: Our last assembly for the term will be on Friday the 9th of December from 11:00-12:00 noon. We will be presenting certificates and say goodbye to a few of our families and students. The foundation year level students will be graduating on the 9th of December to go on to Year 1. Congratulations to all. Goodbyes: Althea Enriques and Abbygale Taja as their families will be moving to Lae. Holleejay Monbi will be attending Charles Campbell College in South Australia. Hayden will be attending one of the State Schools in Brisbane. VARIETY SHOW: Our variety show has been scheduled for Wednesday the 7 th of December at the Mark Solon Auditorium of the University of Goroka (UOG). Our theme for the show is 70s-80s Night. Tickets have already been given out to your children to sell. If you need more please come and see us. There has been a reschedule of rehearsal times by UOG as of yesterday afternoon. Our scheduled rehearsal times have now been moved forward to this Friday the 2 nd of December. The Auditorium will be free for us to us only at 2:00pm. We would like parents to come up to the auditorium to pick up their children at around 3:30pm. Any other students not picked up by 3:30 will be brought back to school and you can pick them up from school. If you are able to help tomorrow please let us know. CHRIS CRINGLE: This week teachers have been organizing Chris Cringle with students in their class. Parents can spend up to K10 for a present. Students have also asked to buy presents for their teachers. This is a very nice gesture from our students but of course optional. All presents are expected to be here at school by Wednesday the 7 th of December. VISITOR: Next week Wednesday we have Hugh Griffin visiting from Education Queensland International. I have attached consent forms for parents to sign for selected pictures he has taken here at school are to be published on the EQI website. Please have them signed and returned by Tuesday the 6 th of December. You can email these consent forms back if you want to or drop them off to Bernatha. LIBRARY BOOKS: We are now at the end of the year and there are a couple of library books missing. Could everyone please have a look at home for these and have them returned. PORTFOLIOS: Samples of your child’s work over the term will be given out next week before the term ends. If you your child didn’t bring home a package please come and see me. TERM 4 REPORTS: All term 4 reports will be emailed out next week before the term ends. 2017 STAFF: I can now announce that we have new teaching staff for next year. I would like to formally introduce Mrs Grace Sarim: Mrs Sarim was one of the first teachers at Goroka Preparatory School (GPS) and worked for GPS for 3 years. She has taught at international schools and has over 18 years teaching experience. Grace Simon: Grace Simon is currently completing her Bachelors Degree in Education at Divine Word University and will join us in January 2017. She has over 4 years teaching experience. Louisa Uloulo: Louisa is currently at New Britain International School and has taught at various International Schools in the country. She has a Bachelors Degree in education from Divine Word University and will be joining us in January 2017. CLASS PLACEMENTS: Class placements for 2017 are as follows however subject to change. Kindergarten-Ms Maibani Foundation/ Yr.1: Mrs Uloulo Year 2- Mrs Ghabiliha Year 2/3- Miss Simon Year 4/5/6- Mrs Sarim Year – 7/8/9- Ms Andrias IMPORTANT DATES Wednesday 7th of December variety show. All year level ends of the year parties will be held on the 8 th of December.
