CARPENTERS FOR CHRISTPlease be in prayer for the team that will be going to Buena Vista, GA to build a new worship facility for Tazewell Baptist Church. The trip is from June 3 thru 13. Adrian Rogers was a wonderful preacher. He once told our small group of ministers, Dont ever wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig enjoys it. When a nonbelieving world wants to oppose our faith and values, we always take the high road. We never lower ourselves by repaying evil with evil. Instead we overcome evil with good. I dont shout darkness away or even shoot it away. To remove darkness we just turn on the light. Lets always let the light of Jesus shine through us.

If you are involved at Eastmont you know how wonderful this church is. Yet healthy churches dont just happen without an effort. It takes compassion, patience, forgiveness, etc. Gene McDonald once told our deacons Anybody can tear down a barn, but it takes a carpenter to build one. Thanks for being carpenters at Eastmont.

Like many of you I was disappointed when our prospective music/worship leader changed his mind. God must have so much more in store for us! God does not just open another door, I believe He opens a better door. Pray for our music search committee as they resume.

Sunday School is essential at Eastmont. These small groups are our best way to build community, grow faith and make disciples. Like most churches one half of our members never attend. This summer would you adopt one family from your class that seldom attends and build a caring, encouraging connection with them? Dont let anyone be forgotten and fade away. They may never attend, but that is O.K. The spiritual connection is most important. (Galatians 6:1-2)

Connie and I celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary next Sunday. While we are away, Brother Art and our deacons will lead us in worship through the Lords Supper. By the way, thanks for being a congregation that enables and strengthens healthy marriages.

Forty five years ago I was called to preach. Three things have enabled me to remain faithful: Our gracious Lord, my loving family and an encouraging church. You are the best.
