DEFYING GRAVITY

Encore Theatre Company’s production of Wicked at the Princess Theatre in Launceston, was a musical which

defied theatrical gravity. Simply put, it soared. Encore’s production was the complete package. This show

CHANGE for GOOD

Encore Theatre Company were recently in residence with WICKED at the Princess Theatre and with one of the

show’s themes focussing on being making change for good, they took the opportunity to do some fundraising

during the final week of performances.

The WICKED Company was polled to decide which local organisation they would like to support during the show,

and their overwhelming response was in favour of Headspace Launceston which is a youth friendly mental and

general health service for people aged between 12-25.

The Front of House team were delighted to do some tin-rattling and collected $1375 which has now been

donated in support of the services and programs offered by Headspace.

BUDDY BOYS With a pile of nominations under their belt and an invitation to perform live at the 2017

Tasmanian Theatre Awards, Encore Theatre were well represented at the annual Awards

Night at Wrest Point on March 12. The icing on the cake was Matthew Garwood taking out

the prized trophy for Best Performance in a Leading Role (Male) for his turn as the

legendary Rock ‘N Roller, Buddy Holly.
