The Lithium Proposition
Currently lithium batteries have been deployed for energy
storage projects, but:
• Cost of Li-ion increases linearly (no economies of scale)
• Loss of capacity over time
• High Depth of Discharge shorten life
• Fire & explosion - particularly manganese/cobalt (EVs)
• Low recyclability of metals (~6%)

Conclusions
Lithium
is the ideal technology for power-intensive applications in
mobility such as EVs and mobile devices
but:
Vanadium
due to its long duration with no decay and economies of
scale is the winner technology for energy-intensivestationary applications
