GREETINGSFROM MARCO TULIO

My friends,

Kicking off year with major milestone

Welcome to the first Embraer Advantage of 2016. This year is off to an exciting start as we recently marked a major milestone – the delivery of our 1,000th aircraft. We also learned our Phenom 300 was the world’s most-delivered business jet for the third consecutive year. I am thrilled to celebrate these significant achievements with our entire Embraer Executive Jets family. Our employees’ hard work and dedication and our valued customers’ continued confidence and support have made these accomplishments possible. Our 1,000th jet – a Legacy 500 – was delivered to Flexjet LLC, one of the leading provider of fractional jet ownership services. We are proud to have delivered 1,000 business jets in more than 60 countries in just over a decade. This feat shows that we listen to our customers and provide them with innovative solutions to meet their varying needs. In February, we learned our light Phenom 300 was again the most-delivered business jet in 2015, 70 aircraft were delivered to several customers around the world. Just over six years after its launch, 330 Phenom 300s are now operating in more than 28 countries. We also received more good news earlier this year, when the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) released its 2015 worldwide year-end report, showing Embraer Executive Jets’ market share had grown to 17% in terms of unit deliveries. Last year, we delivered 120 aircraft, the highest number in five years, and we’ve set an even higher goal for this year. Finally, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the new members of our family. In this issue, Les Goldberg, the first customer to take delivery of our new Legacy 450, shares his experience with Embraer and his cutting-edge aircraft, which he calls “a beautiful machine.” Building on our success in 2015, we are looking forward to reaching even greater heights in 2016 as we continually challenge the status quo and strive to be better in all we do.

Enjoy the issue.

ATG 5000, UCS 5000 to be installed on aircraft

FAA approves Gogo Wi-Fi STC for Phenom 300

LATEST NEWS

The Embraer Phenom 300 has received the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the installation of Gogo Business Aviation Wi-Fi products – ATG 5000 and the UCS 5000 – on the Phenom 300.

The ATG 5000 offers seamless in-flight Internet aboard aircraft across the continental U.S., plus parts of Alaska and Canada, along with advanced features such as multi-network management.

The UCS 5000 smart-cabin system manages and delivers a wide array of data, voice, entertainment, information and cabin management services. It includes additional in-flight entertainment, such as the latest movies and TV episodes, and provides moving map capabilities to the aircraft.

With the STC for both systems, Embraer won’t have to use third-party companies for these installations, ensuring a high standard of quality control and excellence. Embraer also gains a competitive edge, as there are only a small number of aircraft in the market that use the UCS-5000 instead of the CTR Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Embraer mid-light Legacy 450 recently became the largest business jet capable of providing charter air service from La Mole Airport in Saint Tropez, France.

The approval from the French Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) allows Legacy 450 passengers to conveniently reach St. Tropez and other popular tourist destinations on the beautiful French Riviera.

Smart Air SA became the first company in Europe to take delivery of the Legacy 450 late last year.

Evaluation flights performed by the aircraft, operated by Air Service Liege (ASL) in Brussels, Belgium, met strict performance requirements to take off and land on La Mole’s short runway, which is surrounded by dense terrain and heavy air traffic. The results were validated by the French CAA.

In a commercial operation, the Legacy 450 can land at La Mole Airport with at least six passengers, or more in favorable weather conditions, and take off with eight passengers onboard.

CUSTOMER’S VIEW

First worldwide owner of Legacy 450: It’s a ‘beautiful machine’

Les Goldberg

Les Goldberg, CEO of LMG Show Technology and Entertainment Technology Partners and an author, is the first worldwide owner of a Legacy 450.

Tell us a little bit about your business. We’re in the business of live entertainment – audio, video, lighting, LED screens for music, concerts, conventions, trade shows, all types of events around the world.

What is your experience in business aviation and when did you purchase your first business jet?My first jet I bought in 2009, and that was a Hawker. I had that for four years, and when my Hawker company went bankrupt, I promptly got rid of the Hawker and I purchased a Leer. I had the Leer for almost three years, and I finally got myself a big-boy airplane. This is my third aircraft.

Why was the Legacy 450 the aircraft for you? There’s a certain quality of fit and finish that you expect when you buy a multimillion-dollar plane, and this exceeded my expectations with fit and finish. So that was number one. And then when you add the new avionic technology and the fly-by-wire, it gives you the best ride, and it is absolutely a beautiful machine.

What do you like most about the Legacy 450 and how does it help your business? When I need to go somewhere, I feel 100 percent positive that when I get in that plane, it will take me to my destination with my team, my pilots. So I feel reliability is at the top of the list, and I believe it is one of the nicest, well-built aircraft that I’ve ever seen. I think the flexibility and the ability to be where I need to be to meet my clients is paramount, and this aircraft does everything I need it to do.

Can you share your experience with the aircraft delivery process in Brazil. When I went to see the aircraft for the first time, I took an overnight flight and arrived in Sao Jose dos Campos after landing at the Campinas airport, and it’s like an hour and a half, two-hour drive, and when I got to the aircraft, they had projected an image of our company vision statement on the side of the plane with a welcome, which was kind of a nice surprise, because being in the communications, presentation, live-event business. But I think the expectation of seeing the aircraft, based on the specs you have, it was one of those “Oh, wow” moments … Taking delivery of the aircraft, that was the bomb.

Does it make you feel any different knowing you’re the first Legacy 450 customer in the world? That doesn’t shock me or make me feel a certain way. I will tell you that when I looked at other aircraft that are in (this) category, and I sat in those, I didn’t get the feeling that I was buying a very expensive, multimillion-dollar aircraft, and when I got into the Legacy 450, I got the feeling that I was like a king in his castle.

Your company has a lot of focus on creativity, technology and innovations. Do you see any connection between Embraer’s philosophy and your company? This product is an evolution of some continued improvements and trying to develop a product that is leading edge and dependable, and those are some of the same values that we share. We offer technology for what we do in the live-event space with lights and technology, with LED and cameras and all kinds of cool, new things. You want technology you can trust and that doesn’t really put you at risk and delivers an exceptional experience. So the values of Embraer and this aircraft match the values of our company.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?Whenever you sell a product, you always have to sell the differences. And I don’t think I realized all the differences until I did a lot of additional homework. Originally, I was buying a Cessna Latitude. I had made an offer and I said I really need to see this aircraft first, and as soon as I got on this aircraft, I wasn’t buying a Latitude. And then I was buying a Legacy, and the question was whether the math and the economics were going to work, and ultimately, everyone found a way. I’m a happy camper.

PEOPLE BEHINDTHE AIRCRAFT

‘Embraer is something that makes us really proud to be Brazilian’

Brazil native relishes ‘cool’ job in Phenom plant

When Pedro Holanda relocated to Florida from his native Brazil to work in aviation 15 years ago, he had no idea he eventually would work for a global executive jet maker with a Brazilian heritage. Pedro is thrilled his career path led to Embraer Executive Jets in Melbourne, brimming with enthusiasm as he talks about the company and his work as an avionics technician in the Phenom assembly plant. “Embraer is something that makes us really proud to be Brazilian,” said Pedro, who joined Embraer in April 2012. “Being an avionics technician is something really cool. I like my job. I am proud to work for Embraer. The environment is great.”Most of Pedro’s work takes place in the cockpit, where he performs exhaustive operational checks and avionics tests to ensure that all of the innovative electrical systems are functioning correctly. “We go through every knob, every single little button in the cockpit to make sure everything works properly. It’s really fun to sit down in the cockpit and get to understand how every single system works on the aircraft.”

Manufacturing engineers lend their technical knowledge to rethink convention “because we really have to get into the guts of the electrical side of the aircraft,” Pedro explained. Quality assurance inspectors also work closely with technicians, monitoring processes and completing documentation showing the work complies with the FAA’s and Embraer’s highest standards. Pedro sharpened his skills while working as an avionics technician with a local U.S. aircraft manufacturer, and later as an electrical mechanic on the technologically advanced Boeing 787 Dreamliner at a final assembly plant in South Carolina. When production of the Legacy 450 and 500 begins in Melbourne, Pedro said he would welcome the opportunity to learn a more sophisticated and complex system. The Brazil native is effusive in his praise for Embraer Executive Jets, which continues to grow in a competitive market, offering customers the broadest portfolio in the business jet market. “It’s so exciting to see the company growing. Not every company out there is doing so great like Embraer. Embraer is so strong. It’s a massive corporation that’s not going anywhere. They’re here to stay.”

Embraer Executive Jets’ inaugural Industry Collaborators Summit at the company’s Melbourne headquarters in December was a big success.

The event provided key industry influencers a behind-the-scenes look at Embraer and the Executive Jets division and an opportunity to learn firsthand how Embraer’s innovative aircraft have revolutionized the business aviation industry. Most of the attendees had never visited the Melbourne campus.

After touring Embraer Executive Jets’ sprawling complex, viewing our jets and attending informative sessions, some participants expressed surprise at the scope of

the operations in Melbourne. In a post-event survey, respondents gave the summit high marks, noting they were impressed with the facilities and enjoyed the tours. They also were complimentary of the evening reception at the Customer Center, which one participant described as “classy” and “perfectly executed.”

We are confident attendees of the first-ever summit left Melbourne with a better understanding of Embraer’s spectacular executive jets and commitment to challenge the status quo and rethink convention. The second Industry Collaborators Summit is planned for later this year.
