What is E-learning? E-learning is a computer based educational
tool or system that enables you to learn anywhere and at any time
E-learning concept strongly correlated to the use of computer and internet.

Distanced learning
Distance learning is less expensive to support and is not constrained by geographic
considerations,it offers opportunities in situations where traditional education has
difficulty operating , because distance learning can be more flexible in terms of time and can be
delivered virtually anywhere.

Computer based trainingComputer based training (CBT) use of computers in imparting training monitoring trainee progress, providing, feedback and assessing final results. A CBT course sometimes called courseware may be delivered via a software product installed on a single computer .

Web based Training (WBT) is any where, any time instruction delivered over the internet or corporate intranet to browser equipped learners.

Bates (2009) mentions some purposes of E-learning application:1. To increase students’ learning opportunity
and flexibility.2. To enhance general quality.3. To develop skills and competencies.4. To meet various learning styles or needs.5. To improve learning cost effectiveness.
E-learning as a Medium
The use of a technology is influenced by institution, education program, and management.
E-learning could be delivered through several technologies such as e-mail, mailing list, asynchronous conferencing, podcast, on-line video, collaborative video, synchronous conferencing, blog, wikis, social networking, social bookmarking, slide show, virtual world, really simple syndication, micro-blogging, and interactive white board.
